Star Wars Theory Highlights Ezra Bridger's Connection to the Skywalker Twins

Does Ezra Bridger play an important role in the Star Wars storyline leading up to the Skywalker Saga?

Ahsoka may have brought back Ezra Bridger and introduced him into live-action but a captivating Star Wars theory suggests the Jedi has long been connected with the Skywalker twins. Despite not making an appearance in the original trilogy of Star Wars films, it is believed that Ezra had a strange connection to Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa and possibly helped them survive!

Although they are all Star Wars characters, Ezra couldn't be more different from Luke and Leia. For instance, Ezra learned about his connection to the Force early on and was trained by Kanan Jarrus while they went off to help the Rebel Alliance in Star Wars Rebels. Still, a theory purports that Ezra played an important role in Luke and Leia's survival although he never met Luke (at least, for now).

Ezra's Actions Possibly Shielded the Skywalker Twins

Around the time Ezra joined Kanan and the Spectres in the series premiere of Star Wars Rebels, Darth Vader assigned his Grand Inquisitor a critical mission. Emperor Palpatine had sensed a new, emerging Force-related threat, described as the "Children of the Force." It was at this point that Vader instructed the Grand Inquisitor to ensure that these potential Jedi would not become a threat to the Empire, including any surviving Jedi attempting to train them.

Considering Palpatine's awareness of multiple "Children of the Force" who had the potential to rise against the Empire, it is plausible that the other Force-sensitive individuals, apart from Ezra, were Luke and Leia. In this context, it is suggested that Ezra Bridger may have functioned as a diversion, serving to protect the Skywalker twins until the right moment for them to emerge as the galaxy's new hope. After all, it is reasonable to assume that Darth Vader and his Inquisitors would have been relentless in their pursuit to capture and subdue the children of Anakin Skywalker.

Ezra, in his role as a Jedi trainee, was conspicuously positioned as a primary target for the Inquisitors and Darth Vader. If the theory holds true, it would suggest that the events of A New Hope might not have unfolded as they did without Ezra's involvement and his character arc in Star Wars Rebels. Furthermore, his part in exiling Thrawn before the original trilogy demonstrates his influence on the broader Star Wars lore. While he did engage in an adventure with Leia, it is possible that Ezra may eventually unite with both Skywalkers during the New Republic Era, now that he has returned to the known galaxy, as observed in Ahsoka.

It's an interesting theory that enriches the Star Wars narrative by revealing potential connections between seemingly disparate characters and story arcs, underscoring the intricate interplay between the Force and the characters that shape the destiny of the galaxy far, far away. However, it is still unclear if the connection will ultimately be addressed in the upcoming shows and movies.
