Now that Star Wars: Ahsoka Season 1 has come to an end, it looks like the Disney+ series might not be completely done with the show yet. Instead of some limited series, Dave Filoni might be planning on using his art of building stories surrounding his favorite characters from the animated Star Wars series to launch a second season of the popular live-action series.
Dave Filoni began creating the Star Wars world with The Mandalorian, which continued expanding into a massive and messy narrative spanning at least three separate shows. We’re already aware of the fact that Filoni has some great plans for his “Mandoverse” story, which were connected to each other through multiple different shows.
Filoni has been working with Jon Favreau and Rick Famuyiwa on these shows for a few years now, with the grand finale set to be a feature film. Not only this but this very feature film will also be directed by none other than Dave Filoni himself. Big things are brewing in the world of Star Wars, and it looks like we have only cracked the top.
Star Wars: Ahsoka’s ending wasn’t really a cliffhanger, but it was open-ended, with Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) trapped in another galaxy with Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo). However, now it looks like Ahsoka Season 2 might just arrive before Filoni’s epic feature film.
As per a report from Deadline, there’s a really high chance that a second season of the popular Disney+ series might just happen, even though it hasn’t been officially confirmed yet. "Ahsoka Season 2 is more of a reality in the conversation, though nothing is locked yet," Deadline reports. There aren’t currently any indications regarding the second season of Ahsoka and if the titular hero will return in her own live-action series, so we might have to wait sometime to see if it happens.
The report claims that the plans to develop a second season of Star Wars: Ahsoka is currently in the works at the office of Lucasfilm. However, the ending WGA strike and the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike have caused many delays.
What story will Ahsoka Season 2 follow?
Although Ahsoka Season 1 told a complete story, showing Ezra and Thrawn’s journey back to the main Star Wars galaxy, there is still a lot that could be covered in the second season. With Ahsoka and Sabine stranded on a distant planet and the questions about Thrawn’s place in the new order’s rise, Ahsoka Season 2 could take on a great new story.
Unfortunately, it will be a while before we see our first glimpse at the second season if it happens since it seems unlikely that it would even happen in 2024. The earliest chances of us seeing the sequel to Ahsoka would land in 2025.
