Star Wars Seemingly Hints That The Acolyte Season 2 is Happening

Star Wars has seemingly been dropping hints that there will be The Acolyte Season 2.

It has been over a month since Star Wars: The Acolyte ended, but both Disney and Lucasfilm have remained mum about the show’s future. Fans have launched a campaign for the series to continue, making #RenewTheAcolyte trend on X, but no new season renewal has been announced yet. However, as the show ended on a major cliffhanger and left several unanswered questions, Star Wars seemingly hints that The Acolyte Season 2 is happening.

Earlier this month, Star Wars apparently teased that The Acolyte Season 2 might be on the way while promoting Manny Jacinto’s appearance as Qimir / the Stranger at the recent D23 2024 in Anaheim, California. In a post on X, fans were invited to join the actor as he reflected "on the first season of the series" and revealed new insights into his character.

The franchise hinted at more by titling its upcoming book The Art of Star Wars: The Acolyte (Season One), authored by StarWars.com’s associate editor Kristin Baver. Scheduled for release on June 10, 2025, the book will offer a behind-the-scenes look at the Disney+ series, including production details, art, character and vehicle designs, planets, and storyboards. It will also feature interviews with key creatives who will provide a first-hand account of working within the High Republic Era, a first for a live-action Star Wars show.

Though these may not be formal confirmation of The Acolyte Season 2, they suggest that the show will return for another season. The franchise likely wouldn't reference the show in this way if a second season weren’t planned. To prove the claim, Star Wars titled its Obi-Wan Kenobi Blu-ray set Obi-Wan Kenobi: The Complete Series, given that the show was promoted as a miniseries and might not return for another season despite many fans' hopes.

In contrast, the SteelBook packaging of Star Wars: Andor is labeled Andor: The Complete First Season, indicating that the series will return for its second and final season. So, while there’s no official announcement about The Acolyte Season 2, these hints may be a clear indication that the show will continue.

Will there be Star Wars: The Acolyte Season 2?

Though The Acolyte Season 2 has not been officially announced yet, showrunner Leslye Headland has expressed interest in continuing the show. In fact, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly in July, she revealed that she already had some ideas on how the series could move forward, especially following Senator Rayencourt and Supreme Chancellor Drellik’s appearances in the finale, as well as Vernestra Rwoh’s connection to the Republic Senate.

“It was just logical to me that there would be more of this button-down [idea]: ‘We're trying to avoid the mistake. Let's limit the power. Let's do that before someone asks us to,’” she said. “And it was just logical to me to show Vernestra as the bridge for that.”

Of course, the finale also left viewers on the edge of their seats with the surprising cameos of Darth Plagueis and Grand Master Yoda. These appearances were not only exciting but also set up “really compelling” future storylines, according to Headland. If the show receives a second-season renewal, the series creator aims to tie up the major loose ends involving Yoda, Plagueis, and the Stranger.

“Where does that lead? So, it was a lot of: How is this going to fit into what we later see?” she continued. “That was the step I wanted to save for the tease. …Mostly, I need a full season for that.”
