Star Wars Fans Launch Campaign For The Acolyte Season 2

After Leslye Headland asked fans to show their support for The Acolyte online, they quickly heeded and made the #RenewTheAcolyte trend.

It has been a week since Star Wars: The Acolyte dropped its final episode on Disney+, but the show has yet to receive a second-season renewal. Sure, it has solved the mystery surrounding the twin sisters Osha and Mae (Amandla Stenberg). Still, it has left several loose ends, like the origin of Qimir / The Stranger (Manny Jacinto), the connection of Darth Plagueis and Grand Master Yoda to the series after their surprising cameos, and more. As many want their questions answered, fans start campaigning for The Acolyte Season 2 by making hashtag #RenewTheAcolyte trend on X.

Earlier, showrunner Leslye Headland said any form of online support and love fans could send The Acolyte could help renew the show. Though she found it a little tricky, knowing how the internet works today, she also knew that the support the series’ followers could give on social media platforms would be “super helpful.” To that end, fans started using #RenewTheAcolyte in their posts on X, giving several reasons why The Acolyte Season 2 should happen.

User @XDarthThunderX said it would only be right to continue the show for a second season after the first installment ended on a cliffhanger. They also expressed interest in seeing more live-action adaptations of High Republic content.

User @thereylovoid also wanted to see more of Jacinto after finding it hard to move on from Qimir’s shift to the Stranger. They even praised The Good Place actor for perfectly nailing his role.

Speaking of Qimir, user @anushqavibing fancied seeing the Stranger and Osha together in The Acolyte Season 2. Jacinto himself teased more Oshamir dynamics in the second season, so this isn’t far from happening.

Star Wars: The Acolyte Topping Rotten Tomatoes’ Streaming Charts

Despite the review bombing and the controversies surrounding The Acolyte, the show is now topping Rotten Tomatoes’ streaming charts. At one point, it received a disappointing 13% audience score, while the episodes had negative scores before they were even released. Now, it is part of the site’s 25 most popular TV shows on streaming, ranking at No. 1 and defeating Netflix’s Supacell, Prime Videos’ The Boys Season 4, FX’s The Bear Season 3, and even HBO’s House of the Dragon Season 2, among others.

Not only that, but its audience score has also improved, currently sitting at 17%. Though it's lower than its competitors, it’s still a great improvement, given the number of negative reviews it received earlier.

Headland admitted she hasn’t heard anything about the show’s second-season renewal yet, but she already has some ideas on how it will continue. She has already hinted that Yoda may play a bigger role and teased more about Vernestra Rwoh (Rebecca Henderson) and Qimir’s relationship in the potential The Acolyte Season 2. As it took several months before Lucasfilm announced Star Wars: Ahsoka Season 2, the same could happen to The Acolyte.

All episodes of The Acolyte are available on Disney+.
