We've already seen several Star Wars Rebels characters get their live-action debut on Ahsoka (it happened again this week) but Episode 3 just delivered something different for a change. A character from the animated show Star Wars Resistance finally made an appearance in the Disney+ series and boy, is he already getting a lot of haters.
In Ahsoka Episode 3, Hera Syndulla met with Chancellor Mon Mothma and a group of New Republic senators to report on what happened in Corellia. It immediately becomes clear that one particular senator is prickly about the meeting, especially when Hera requests to take a task force to the Denab system in the search for Grand Admiral Thrawn. Senator Xiono quickly accuses Hera of trying to gain New Republic resources in what is actually the ongoing search for Ezra Bridger so she immediately shut him down.
He's not a nice guy, obviously, and many Ahsoka viewers are already hating on Senator Xiono. But for Star Wars Resistance fans, this isn't anything new. After all, they've already seen just how snarky Xiono could be.
Who is Senator Xiono?
Senator Hamato Xiono first appeared in Star Wars Resistance as a politician who uses his position to get his son Kazuda "Kaz" Xiono into the pilot academy. However, he isn't happy about Kaz joining the Resistance and we can already tell he's not happy about Hera's insistence that Thrawn is still alive.

So far, we've only seen Senator Xiono sporadically in the Star Wars Universe but he always leaves an impression (not necessarily a good one, but an impression nonetheless). The younger version of Xiono is played by Nelson Lee while the legendary Tzi Ma provided his voice in Resistance. Both actors are quite good at playing not-so-pleasant characters so we'll have to praise them for making sure Xiono gets on our nerves.

But will Senator Xiono play a bigger role in Ahsoka? For now, it's unclear whether he will be a major influence on how the New Republic will work to find (and hopefully defeat) Thrawn. Still, we're ready to find out more in future episodes.
The third episode of Ahsoka is titled Part Three: Time to Fly and is now available for streaming. Episode 4 has not been given an official title but will premiere on Disney+ on September 5, 2023.
