It's finally happened; we finally got to see another Star Wars Rebels character make their live-action debut in Ahsoka. Episode 3 just gave us our first look at the young Jacen Syndulla. In addition to that, the son of Hera Syndulla made references to the Jedi and his own father Kanan Jarrus!
In Ahsoka Episode 3, Hera meets with the New Republic senators to discuss what she discovered on Corellia. But before the discussion begins, Chancellor Mon Mothma asks about Hera's son Jacen. She confirms that the child is on board and the Chancellor suggests that the boy is with Chopper.
After being dismissed, Hera immediately finds her son who asks about Sabine Wren becoming a Jedi (Chopper told him). Jacen then points out that he also wants to be a Jedi, something that makes Hera smile wistfully.
It's awesome to see Jacen after his brief appearance in the Star Wars Rebels epilogue. Needless to say, we're expecting to see more of the boy in the upcoming Ahsoka episodes.
Who is Jacen Syndulla?
In Star Wars Rebels, Hera and Kanan had a bond that appeared to be unexplored until the final moment. Just as the two shared a kiss in the Season 4 episode Jedi Knight, Pryde orders her troops to open fire on the fuel tanks they are standing on. Sadly, Kanan sacrificed himself to ensure Hera and their friends could escape.
But viewers got a major surprise when the epilogue in the Rebels finale revealed that Hera and Kanan had a son named Jacen. Although the child only appeared briefly, it was proof that the connection between his parents ran deep and Kanan's legacy will live on.
For now, it is unclear what role Jacen will play in Ahsoka but merchandise for the Star Wars series suggests that the child will be joining Hera in action. This should make the next few episodes of Ahsoka something to look forward to. Episode 4 is currently scheduled to premiere on Disney+ on September 5, 2023.
