Spider-Man is getting a new animated series. Polygon Pictures has announced its involvement with a new show being developed by Marvel Studios. The Japanese animation studio also revealed that they will be using the latest CGI technology for their latest project.
Polygon Pictures has issued a statement announcing their new project. Spider-Man: Freshman Year will be a new animated series following the web-slinger's latest adventures. The details of the upcoming anime have not yet been revealed.
It's an exciting new project that's expected to bring Tom Holland's Peter Parker to animation after the events in Spider-Man: No Way Home. In the film, Peter successfully helped his friends Ned and MJ get into MIT but also ended up erasing their memories about him. Although this is a sad thing for people, it also opens a lot of possibilities for him as he starts over with his identity as Spider-Man remaining a secret.
Is Spider-Man: Freshman Year Connected To Across The Spider-Verse?
But is it also possible that Spider-Man: Freshman Year will connect the Marvel Cinematic Universe more closely to Miles Morales? Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse already made references at the MCU but we have yet to see Miles swinging into Earth-1999. Animation would be an excellent medium for this to happen and it would be amazing to see Miles finally meet MCU Peter.

Although we're loving the possibilities in Spider-Man: Freshman Year, it is important to remember that Polygon Pictures has not confirmed whether Sony will be involved in the anime. In addition to that, the immediate details about the animated show have yet to be revealed. Nevertheless, we're hoping that we'll get new information on the project in the next few weeks.
The latest Spider-Man project was Sony's Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse which was released in theaters in June. The animated sequel following Miles Morales' adventures is currently the fifth-highest-grossing film of 2023.
