If there's one thing that was confirmed in Ahsoka, it's the fact that Sabine Wren has finally connected to the Force and was able to send Ezra Bridger home to their galaxy. But did the new ability also allow Sabine to connect to an important Jedi? If this is the case, Ahsoka may have broken a major Star Wars tradition involving Force ghosts.

Ahsoka Season 1 has concluded, leaving fans with lingering questions, particularly about Sabine and her unexpected encounter with Anakin Skywalker's Force ghost. While Grand Admiral Thrawn's return to the main Star Wars galaxy marked a success, Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren's stories had their own significant developments. Ahsoka achieved a sense of redemption, becoming Ahsoka the White, while Sabine unlocked her Force sensitivity.

Throughout the season, Sabine grappled with the complexities of the Force while searching for her lost family member, Ezra Bridger, stranded on Peridea. Although her Force sensitivity had been hinted at from the start of Ahsoka, her efforts had largely been in vain until the season finale. In this pivotal moment, Sabine opened herself up to the Force, enabling her to sense Anakin Skywalker's presence as he watched over his former Padawan, Ahsoka. This twist in Sabine's character arc could have significant implications for both her and Ahsoka's future storylines.

What are Force Ghosts?

Force ghosts remain a mysterious aspect of the Star Wars universe. They can interact with the living and impact the physical world but can only manifest if they align with the light side of the Force, meaning Sith cannot become Force ghosts, only trained Jedi. Traditionally, it was believed that Force ghosts appeared based on their connection with the viewer. For instance, Luke Skywalker saw the Force ghosts of Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda, and his father Anakin Skywalker due to his personal connections with them.

However, in the final scene of Ahsoka, Sabine, who had no prior connection to Anakin Skywalker, was able to sense his Force ghost. This revelation challenges previous assumptions about the manifestation of Force ghosts and opens up new possibilities for Anakin Skywalker's role in Ahsoka Season 2 and beyond. While Ahsoka may no longer require her master's guidance, it doesn't rule out occasional appearances by Anakin. Given his immense power as a Force user, his Force ghost could manifest anywhere, bringing a new layer of depth to the narrative.

Of course, there is still a possibility that Sabine had sensed a different Force ghost in Peridea. Maybe she felt the presence of her old friend Kanan Jarrus who somehow served as her Master when Sabine was training to use the Darksaber. For now, it is unclear what Sabine saw but it's something fans can look forward to finding out about in the second season.
