There is little doubt that Ahsoka Tano's journey got more interesting in the fifth episode of her standalone Star Wars series. In Shadow Warrior, the former Jedi faced off against Anakin Skywalker in the World Between Worlds and although she is initially defeated, Ahsoka emerges victorious in their second and more important duel. Her transformation has since inspired several The Lord of the Rings comparisons.
In Ahsoka Episode 5, the titular heroine reunited with her former Master who was determined to impart a final lesson. Although Ahsoka initially refuses to fight him, she defends herself from his attacks and ends up reliving some of her worst memories from the Clone Wars. When it becomes clear that Ahsoka is not interested in his teachings, Anakin attacks her again and although she defeats him, she refuses to kill him. This allowed her to return from the World Between Worlds and get rescued by Hera Syndulla's companions.
Ahsoka's triumph over her own past should have been enough to draw those Lord of the Rings comparisons. However, Dave Filoni really made the message clear by giving Ahsoka a new outfit and a psychic connection to the mystical flying whales known as purrgil which allowed her to search for Sabine Wren.
Although we can't help but make comparisons, the transformation to Ahsoka the White is truly an important one for the character. After losing her faith in the Jedi (and her Master) in The Clone Wars and living with guilt for several years, we finally see an Ahsoka who is free from uncertainty and ready for her destiny.
But does this also mean that Ahsoka knows what needs to be done? Let's just hope that her journey will lead her to where Ezra Bridger is. In addition to that, we're hoping that she is finally ready to defeat Grand Admiral Thrawn and prevent the Empire from rising again.
Ahsoka Episode 6 has not yet been given an official title. However, the sixth episode of the Star Wars series is already scheduled to premiere on Disney+ on Tuesday, September 19, 2023.
