The God of Thunder is making a milestone in the Marvel Cinematic Universe being the first hero to ever get five films in the franchise as a Thor 5 has been reportedly under development. Other than having the most solo films, it seems that his movies are also making a mark on having the most directors. Following the news that Taika Waititi will no longer be helming the fifth Thor movie, rumors circulated around Rogue One director Gareth Edwards being tapped to direct but he finally addresses these speculations with a definite answer.
Usually, hero movies get a trilogy at most. Solo outings of heroes are more often than not, bundled into three movies before moving on to their group movies. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the most movies, so far, are four for the Avengers films under the Infinity Saga but this will expand more once The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars come out. Fortunately, for Thor, he got Thor: Love and Thunder as his fourth movie which is already a record, but this time, he'll have more as Thor 5 is possibly underway.
Taika Waititi, however, will not be back after helming Thor: Ragnarok and Thor: Love and Thunder. Inasmuch as Ragnarok was well-received, Love and Thunder failed to get the heart of the viewers, thus, Waititi will not be returning for Thor 5. Rogue One director Gareth Edwards was rumored to step in but he answered this through his appearance on BroBible’s Post Credit Podcast:
Edwards, however, isn't fully closing his doors for Thor 5 as he remains willing should Marvel Studios ask, "I never say never. In the right circumstances, absolutely."

Not much has been revealed about Thor 5 aside from the fact that it is reportedly under development and that Taika Waititi will not return to direct. Of course, the movie will not be complete without the titular God of Thunder, so it is expected that Chris Hemsworth will be back for the role because he remains to be Thor in the MCU. Aside from all those, everyone's in the blur on Thor 5.
Thor: Love and Thunder, however, gave some hints on how the story of Thor could expand with the introduction of the Greek heroes into the mix. The post-credits scene of the movie revealed Hercules, played by Brett Goldstein, where he is being challenged by Zeus to bring down Thor. A cross between the mythos may happen in Thor 5 and that is, indeed, something to look forward to.
All the Thor movies are available to stream on Disney Plus.
