Usually, movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe go by trilogies but for one exceptional hero, he will reportedly have a fifth film. The God of Thunder is, undoubtedly, one of the most popular characters in the MCU portrayed by Chris Hemsworth. After four films, it has been long rumored that there will be a Thor 5 but surprisingly, there's a search for a new director which could mean that Taika Waititi will have no trilogy for the titular hero.
Thor released in 2011 introducing the God of Thunder into the Marvel Cinematic Universe who later becomes one of the original six of the Avengers. The film was directed by Kenneth Branagh who did a spectacular job in doing the introductory film of the hero to the franchise but his tenure did not take long as for the sequel, Thor: The Dark World was helmed by a different director, Alan Taylor, who, literally, brought the darkness into the big screens. For the third and fourth film, Taika Waititi entered the scene and made Thor: Ragnarok which brought the color back and took the comedic route that made everyone love Thor more, and Thor: Love and Thunder which proved that some successes cannot be replicated since something in it just did not work the magic.

Following Thor: Love and Thunder's hit-and-miss, speculations arose that Taika Waititi might have gotten too far with his creative control over the film. Now, the God of Thunder will reportedly return for another movie, Thor 5, but this time, a new director would be helming the film. The rumor was revealed by scooper Daniel Richtman on X (formerly Twitter) who claimed that Thor 5 is now under development. To date, there is no announcement yet for Thor 5 and who the new director would be.
While there is still no official announcement from Marvel Studios whether there will actually be a Thor 5, the movie may possibly arrive after the Multiverse Saga with the MCU currently on Phase 5 and projects for until Phase 6 were already announced. That being said, Thor: Love and Thunder may have already set up the stage on what Thor 5 would be about after the introduction of the Greek gods and Hercules who Thor may be up against in the next film should there be one.
Do you think there would be a Thor 5 and who would you like to direct the movie?
