Other than the fans following franchises grow each year, the people behind it are like proud parents seeing their children be successful. For Star Wars with more than four decades, it has already expanded into being one of the biggest franchises to ever exist. Director, producer, writer, and Rebels co-creator Simon Kinberg expresses how proud he is on the characters of the show he co-created who appeared in Ahsoka, and says "Star Wars is my religion."

While Dave Filoni is mostly credited as the person responsible for the beloved animated series Star Wars: Rebels, Simon Kinberg co-created the show which introduced iconic characters like Ezra Bridger, Hera Syndulla, and Sabine Wren. Kinberg wrote and oversaw all the scripts of Rebels which became the backbone of the narratives of the characters and as they made their live-action debut, Kinberg expresses how happy he is for them and to see them on screen is beyond his excitement.

Speaking with Inverse, Kinberg reveals that Rebels is one of the main highlights of his career and to see the characters continue to flourish in the franchise excites him. He says:

There’s so many things to me that are exciting about the Rebels characters coming to life in Ahsoka. It’s not something I ever imagined when we were making the show. Our partnership on that show was really great which leads to the other thing that’s really thrilling to me: not just seeing the characters come to live action, but to see Dave really flourishing in a role that I knew he was capable of.

Simon Kinberg was last attached to the Star Wars franchise in 2018 with Rebels and since it ended, Kinberg expresses that he is content to being one of the biggest fans watching the shows. Other than watching the series, Kinberg is also ecstatic to witness the creative team behind the ongoing success of Star Wars and the overall growth of the franchise right before his eyes.

The new branch of the Star Wars saga is currently headed by Dave Filoni alongside Jon Favreau as they take the franchise to success into streaming under Disney Plus. Various series on the streaming platform are from the duo like The Book of Boba Fett, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and much recently, Ahsoka, where characters like Ezra Bridger, Hera Syndulla, and Sabine Wren made their live-action debuts played by Eman Esfandi, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and Natasha Liu Bordizzo respectively. These characters are expected to return in future Star Wars projects.
