A year of regional testing is as far as this particular Lombax detour ever got. PlayStation and developer Oh BiBi have ended development on Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble, cancelling the free-to-play mobile shooter before it could reach its planned global launch.
The news arrived Friday on the game's official website, where the team wrote, "We've made the difficult decision to cease development of Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble." The announcement gave no reason for the decision, but it closed with "thanks to our amazing community for all your support," singling out the players who had spent the past year sharing feedback and helping shape the game.
Announced in November 2025, Ranger Rumble was billed as a fast-paced multiplayer platformer arena shooter built for phones. French studio Oh BiBi developed the game in partnership with Insomniac Games, with PlayStation publishing, and it cast players as recruits inside Captain Qwark's combat simulation, battling as heroes from across the series for a spot among the Galactic Rangers. Modes spanned team-based PvP skirmishes and PvE wave battles, with seasonal events and rewards layered on top.
Testing began the same month as the reveal, with a soft launch in the Philippines and Indonesia. The rollout later expanded to Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, France, Canada and the UK, and worldwide pre-registration opened in July as the team geared up for a global launch that never received a date. Pre-registration rewards are still being honoured, with the site confirming they will reach every player who logs into the final update.
For players in those regions, the wind-down starts now, as a final planned update rolls out today on the App Store and Google Play. The game leaves both stores on November 21, in-app purchases have already been removed, and refund eligibility for past purchases runs through Apple and Google's own policies. Every current mode, matchmaking and the competitive features stay live until the end, the Qwark Pass seasons keep running, and the Super Pass is now free for everyone.
None of this touches the series proper, and the announcement stresses the shutdown has no impact on other Ratchet & Clank games or PlayStation services. Insomniac Games created the franchise on PlayStation 2 in 2002, and its console home has remained PlayStation ever since, most recently with Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart on PlayStation 5.
Everything left in Ranger Rumble wraps up on May 1, 2027, when the servers permanently shut down and the game will no longer load. Unspent currency and unclaimed Qwark Pass rewards must be used before that date, all player data will be wiped, and progress cannot transfer to any other game.
