Netflix has dropped a lively introduction video for The WONDERfools, with Park Eun-bin, Cha Eun-woo, Choi Dae-hoon, and Im Seong-jae diving into their eccentric roles and showcasing the series’ playful blend of 1990s nostalgia and clumsy superhero antics. The stars deliver witty character breakdowns that highlight teleportation mishaps, telekinetic throws, sticky situations, and bursts of unexpected strength, immediately signaling the show’s offbeat tone. This glimpse builds strong anticipation for the upcoming comedy-action series set against Y2K-era panic.

The WONDERfools is a superpower comic action series set in 1999, a time marked by widespread apocalyptic beliefs and Y2K anxieties. It follows a group of neighborhood misfits in Haeseong City who unexpectedly gain superpowers and band together to fight villains threatening their community's peace. The story blends humor, action, and heart as these ordinary townspeople clumsily embrace their new “hero” roles amid doomsday panic. Their misadventures promise a wild ride filled with witty dialogue and colorful character dynamics.

Park Eun-bin portrays Eun Chae-ni, the spirited granddaughter of the owner of Hearty House restaurant. “She’s the granddaughter of the owner of Hearty House. But instead of her name Eun Chae Ni, everyone in Haeseong City knows her as ‘Trainwreck,’” the actress explained in the introduction video. She gains the ability of teleportation. Not only can she teleport, she’s also tied to a crucial secret that pushes the narrative forward, making her a central figure in the unfolding events.

Cha Eun-woo takes on the role of Lee Un Jeong, a dedicated civil servant. “The character Un Jeong is specially assigned to Haeseong City as a civil servant,” Cha Eun-woo shared. He has the power of telekinesis, which means he can lift objects or hurl them however he pleases, adding a dynamic layer to the group's efforts against emerging threats.

Choi Dae-hoon brings to life Son Gyeong Hun, described as “a grandmaster grumbler and a professional interloper” and “the king of complaints, an expert at pointing fingers.” He continued, “After a strange incident with Chae Ni and Ro Bin (Im Seong Jae), he gains the ability to stick to things. Put simply, he becomes human flypaper.” This sticky superpower leads to plenty of comedic moments as the character navigates his new abilities alongside the team.

Im Seong-jae plays Kang Ro Bin, a lovable character working at the local eatery. “As I’m sure you’ll all see, Ro Bin is a cutie, and he works at Chae Ni’s grandmother’s restaurant Hearty House,” Im Seong-jae noted. Through a series of events, he suddenly gains superpower-like strength. But he doesn’t know exactly what triggers it, so he trains under his master Un Jeong and is enlightened, highlighting themes of growth and mentorship within the quirky ensemble.
