Hong Seung-hee Wakes Up Believing She's the Heroine of Jung Yong-hwa's Drama in Oh! My Guard Preview

A top star who can't film kiss scenes, an heiress who thinks she's his heroine — Oh! My Guard's first preview is a romance built on one big misunderstanding.

Oh! My Guard has released a preview of its first episode that sets up a romance built on a case of mistaken identity. An accident leaves a chaebol heiress convinced she is the female lead of her favorite drama — and convinced the top star who played its hero is her leading man in real life.

The romantic comedy stars CNBLUE's Jung Yong-hwa as Uhm Tae-bong, an A-list actor billed as a master of romance dramas who carries a fatal flaw: he cannot film kiss scenes. The preview opens on his carefully guarded secret, as he halts a kiss scene with co-star Song Na-ri (Park You-na) moments before their lips meet, leaving his director exasperated enough to ask, "Why won't you film a good scene?" His manager is more suspicious, asking, "Have you really never kissed anyone before?"

Across town, Oh Hae-ra (Hong Seung-hee) lives alone in a quiet, grand mansion, a chaebol heiress who has drifted out of her chairman father's attention. Her one joy is Prince's Bodyguard, the drama that made Tae-bong a star, and she spends her evenings imagining herself as its female lead, Cha Hong-doo, wishing something like that could happen to her too.

Her wish turns literal in the worst way. When news breaks that Tae-bong has been injured during filming, Hae-ra rushes out of the mansion to see him — and gets into an accident on the way. She comes out of it believing she truly is Cha Hong-doo, and that the real Tae-bong is Han Jung-woo, the male lead of Prince's Bodyguard, setting up a collision between her drama fantasy and his carefully protected real life.

The irony at the center of Tae-bong's career is that his refusal is part of his brand. He has held a strict no-kissing-scene stance for years, insisting they are absolutely out of the question, and it is precisely that reputation — the romance master who never films kiss scenes — that keeps him on top. What nobody around him knows is why, and the preview makes clear the secret is one he cannot afford to have exposed.

That is the threat Hae-ra unknowingly becomes. A woman who has studied his most famous drama frame by frame, and who now believes she belongs inside it, is the one person positioned to stumble onto the truth he has hidden from his own director and manager.

The supporting cast adds a second tangle. Lee Yi-kyung plays the real Han Jung-woo — not the drama character Hae-ra has invented in her head, but a man who first saw her during his childhood in England and has returned to South Korea to find her. Han Chae-ah plays So Hyun-joo, the former girlfriend of Tae-bong's late brother and, quietly, his own first love.

The series is written by Byun Sang-soon and co-directed by Yoon Jong-ho, who helmed Lovely Runner, and Lee Seung-hoon. The 16-episode run gives the misunderstanding plenty of room to deepen before reality catches up with either of them.
