Netflix’s One Piece Season 2: Eiichiro Oda Reveals Arc Order & Teases More Cast Members Announcement

As with the first season, one story arc from the Arabasta Saga will not be adapted in One Piece Season 2, likely saving it for a potential Season 3.

Little details about Netflix’s One Piece Season 2 are now emerging. After news broke that Katey Sagal may play the role of Dr. Kureha following Jamie Lee Curtis's inability to do so, series creator Eiichiro Oda provided a new update on the highly anticipated live-action adaptation of his long-running manga and anime. Not only does he reveal the new season’s arc order, but he also teases the announcement of more cast members.

In a post on Netflix’s official One Piece X page, Oda-sensei shared a lengthy note to fans to give an update about One Piece Season 2. According to the veteran mangaka, the filming is “well underway” after the production started in July in Cape Town, South Africa. From there, he went on to reveal the story arcs that the second season will cover:

  • Loguetown

  • Reverse Mountain (Twin Cape)

  • Whiskey Peak

  • Little Garden

  • Drum Island

By the looks of it, not all five story arcs of the Arabasta Saga will be adapted. The series will also adapt the Loguetown Arc from the East Blue Saga, which the first season left behind, leaving the Arabasta Arc unadapted. With this expansive world, Oda wonders how much it will cost to adapt One Piece. However, like the first season, he ensures that Netflix and the producer Tomorrow Studios will go out of their way to fulfill their promise that they won’t put the show out until he’s satisfied.

“They’ve certainly proven their ability to bring this world to the screen,” he continued. “It just can’t wait to see it.”

More Cast Members for Netflix’s One Piece Season 2 Will be Announced Over Three Days

So far, Netflix has announced new cast members, mostly featuring the Baroque Works villains. However, Oda teased that among those yet to be announced are Vivi, Miss All Sunday, and, of course, Tony Tony Chopper. Oda first revealed that Chopper would join Luffy’s crew when the show returns, as the pirates need a doctor.

“We can’t announce everyone all at once,” he added. “But starting tomorrow, we’ll be announcing more cast members over three days: August 21, 22, and 23.”

Having a diverse cast from around the world—Mexico, Japan, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas—the Straw Hats are back in South Africa to film One Piece Season 2. Iñaki Godoy will return as Monkey D. Luffy, Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero as Usopp, and Taz Skylar as Sanji.

So far, the newly revealed cast members are Jazzara Jaslyn as Miss Valentine, David Dastmalchian as Mr. 3, Camrus Johnson as Mr. 5, Daniel Lasker as Mr. 9, Brendan Murray as Brogy, and Clive Russell as Crocus. It also includes Werner Coetser as Dorry, Ty Keogh as Dalton, Callum Kerr as Smoker, Julia Rehwald as Tashigi, and Rob Colletti as Wapol.

One Piece features a lot of characters, so fans can expect to see more cast members to be announced soon. However, as it will leave the second saga’s last arc, the Arabasta Arc, behind, probably saving it for the possible Season 3, they may not see Vivi’s homeland yet.

All episodes of live-action One Piece are available on Netflix, while Season 2 is expected to be released in 2025.
