Netflix’s One Piece Season 2 is now shaping up. After the streamer hints at the introduction of Mr. 3 into live-action during the celebration of Luffy’s birthday on May 5, several casting call news have emerged. Now, the service has confirmed the Baroque Works’ appearance when the show returns and reveals the cast who will play the villains.

Netflix announced (via Variety) that Ant-Man and Suicide Squad actor David Dastmalchian would join One Piece Season 2 as Mr. 3, the officer agent of the criminal syndicate Baroque Works. He would be joined by Camrus Jonson (Batwoman) as Mr. 5, Daniel Lasker (Raised by Wolves) as Mr.9, and Jazzara Jaslyn (Warrior) as Miss Valentine.

The streaming giant first teased Mr. 3’s arrival in the live-action series after lead star Iñaki Godoy blew a candle shaped like the villain’s hair on top of Luffy’s cake in May. Knowing Mr. 3 is famous for his three-shaped hair and possesses a Wax Wax devil fruit power that lets him create and control candle wax, this is a creative tease for his arrival.

Of course, the Baroque Works will never be complete without Mr. 5, Mr. 9, and Miss Valentine. Mr. 5 is the lowest-ranked officer agent of Baroque Works, alongside his partner, Miss Valentine. These two also serve as the antagonists of the Whisky Peak Arc and Little Garden Arc, which are also expected to be explored in the show’s second season. As for Mr. 9, he’s the Frontier Agent and bounty hunter of the group created by the Warlord Crocodile to destabilize and conquer the Arabasta Kingdom.

For starters, the Baroque Works was already mentioned in the premiere episode of One Piece Season 1. At the time, Roronoa Zoro battled the red-haired Mr. 7, a Baroque Works agent, who tried to recruit him to his cause, resulting in the latter’s death.

What to Expect from Netflix’s One Piece Season 2

One Piece Season 2 is expected to adapt the Arabasta Saga, the second saga in Eiichiro Oda’s manga and anime of the same title, on which the show is based. After Luffy and his crew ended their journey in East Blue, the series’ first saga, they’re about to continue their adventure by sailing to the Grand Line. But before that happens, they will stop at Loguetown for resupply.

They will meet the Loguetown Captain, Smoker, who appeared in the first season’s end-credits scene. As part of the Arabasta Saga, the Baroque Works will be introduced as the Straw Hats set sail to Whisky Peak. The group will be targeted by the criminal organization led by Mr. 3. From there, a battle between the two pirate crews will begin.

In addition, the new season may adapt the Drum Island Arc, where Luffy and the rest of the Straw Hat pirates will meet Tony Tony Chopper. Oda-san earlier revealed that Chopper would appear in One Piece Season 2 when he announced the show’s renewal. As the Straw Hats will need a doctor to help heal Nami’s mysterious disease, they will travel to Drum Island to find a physician.
