It's been almost 10 years since the My Hero Academia manga series began its serialization in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump, and after 40 volumes published, the manga has reached a sales milestone that only a few titles have reached. According to the sales figures this week, My Hero Academia by Kohei Horikoshi has 100 million copies in circulation. Now, the series creator has shared a comment on his manga's success.
The update was released by My Hero Academia's team (via Comic Natalie) as Horikoshi shared his reaction to the incredible achievement. In his message to fans, the mangaka thanked fans for their support, and he mentioned talented artists who helped the rise of My Hero Academia.
"I believe we have reached this number thanks to the fact we are blessed to live in times in which we walk within thin-soled sneakers on a path carved by many great manga and anime. On top of that, I am honestly really happy that so many people have been willing to busy manga that I have drawn for such a long time. Thank you for much for supporting Deku and his friends. I hope that My Hero Academia is also able to expand this already paved path a little bit further," Horikoshi said.
My Hero Academia is clearly one of the most popular shonen titles right now, so this milestone shouldn't be surprising to fans of the media franchise. The recent data, My Hero Academia manga has sold 60 million copies in Japan and 40 million globally. With million of copies in circulation, My Hero Academia is the tenth series from Weekly Shonen Jump to sell 100 million copies. The manga also inspired numerous spin-off manga, including My Hero Academia: Smash!!, My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, and My Hero Academia: Team-Up Missions.
When is My Hero Academia Season 7 Episode 1 coming?
The first episode of My Hero Academia Season 7 is scheduled to premiere on May 4 at 2:30 AM Pacific/5:30 AM Eastern in the US on Crunchyroll, 10:30 AM BST in the UK. A four-part recap series, titled My Hero Academia: Memories, will be released on April 6 with new episodes coming out every Saturday this month. The recap episodes serve as a nice refresher for lapsed viewers or a good way to get back into the fold for those who don't want to watch the first six seasons again. The manga is currently on its final arc so we can expect both the manga and anime adaptation to conclude in the near future.
My Hero Academia is now streaming on Crunchyroll, and some seasons are available to stream on Netflix.
