The ESRB recently rated the much-anticipated Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 game, so it's safe to say that the game is good for teens. Players have been waiting a long time for this game to be released on the PlayStation 5 console and can’t wait to defeat Kraven the Hunter and meet Venom in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. When Insomniac Games released Marvel’s Spider-Man on PS4, it instantly became a Game of the Year contender, and we expect nothing less from the upcoming game.

Even though a lot of good Spider-Man games have been released in the past, the lackluster releases by Activision made the characters and the games take a major fall. However, now after years and years of waiting, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has given fans something to be excited about; a brand-new version of Venom as well as plenty of other features.

Since Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is adding the alien symbiote and Kraven the Hunter to the game, many people (mostly parents) are a little worried about the game’s rating. They believe that the game might get a little too intense for the players and might be a bit more mature as compared to the previous ones. Marvel’s Spider-Man also featured a couple of intense scenes, like a terrorist attack in which many civilians got brutally killed in broad daylight.

However, the rating of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was recently revealed, and as it turns out, the game has been rated T for Teen, similar to the previous entries. The official rating label states that the upcoming game will feature violence, blood, mild language, and drug references. You can see why the ESRB gave such a rating to the game in an explanation that they provided below:

This is an action game in which players assume the roles of Peter Parker and Miles Morales/Spider-Men as they attempt to save New York City from a new threat. From a third-person perspective, players fight crime, swing around buildings, and engage in melee-style combat with enemies. Characters mostly punch, kick, and throw each other during fights; central characters can use special symbiote-based and electricity-based attacks on enemies. Some enemies use pistols and/or machine guns during combat; gunshots sometimes result in small splashes of blood. Cutscenes depict further instances of violence/blood: a character choked to death; a dead body turned over; blood drops on a leaf. In some crime missions, characters can be seen trading unnamed drugs for weapons; drug packages can be seen in a car trunk. The words “pr*ck” and “a*s” appear in the game.

Even though this might not come as a shock to many people, Batman: Arkham Knights caught players off guard when it was rated M. The games that were previously released in the series were rated T, but the trilogy’s final game took it two steps ahead and gave the game a much more mature rating. X-Men Origins: Wolverine also received an M-rating, but that was actually intentional because of all the blood and gore the game featured. What do you think about the rating that was given to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2?
