The Marvel Cinematic Universe is expanding to cater more characters from the comic books to have their time on the screens as the multiverse opens new possibilities for more stories. One of those titles is the reboot of the Blade movie which will be led by Oscar award-winning actor Mahershala Ali. However, the movie faced delays after delays and Ali speaks up and reveals the current development updates on his upcoming MCU film.

The Blade reboot was announced by Marvel Studios in 2019 which brings an anticipation on how the Marvel Cinematic Universe will incorporate the daywalker into the current narrative of the MCU. Unfortunately, years after its announcement, the Blade reboot faced delays after delays while on its pre-production stage. It all started when director Bassam Tariq made an exit on the project, then there were various script changes afterwards, plus the pause that the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes brought. Finally, Mahershala Ali sheds some light on what is happening to the movie in an interview with EW:

We’re working on it. That’s the best I could tell you. I’m really encouraged with the direction of the project. I think we’ll be back at it relatively soon. I’m sincerely encouraged in terms of where things are at and who’s on board and who’s leading the way as far as the writing of the script and the directing and all that. So that’s the extent of what I can tell you.

With such positive remarks from Mahershala Ali, it seems that the current development status of Blade is, so far, in calm waters without any setbacks encountered so far. Still, the movie hasn't entered the filming process yet.

Blade has always been a fan-favorite in the comics and after Wesley Snipes suited up as the titular daywalker in 1998, the popularity of the film picked up and since at that time, there was still no MCU, having a reboot would be the best way to include Blade into the current MCU narrative. The R-Rated movie is making its way to the MCU and small tease for Blade already dropped in the MCU in the post-credits scene of the Eternals where Kit Harrington's Dane Whitman was deliberating by himself whether to pick the sword he inherited from his ancestors, then, he heard a voice that convinces him to follow his path. To date, only Mahershala Ali's voice made its MCU debut. He has not made his live-action arrival yet.
