Lucasfilm has affirmed its commitment to proceed with its upcoming Star Wars movie projects despite uncertainties stemming from Hollywood strikes and the studio's history of cancelling projects. A new report confirms that the three key Star Wars films will be moving forward, and it looks like the line-up hasn't changed much since the previous Star Wars Celebration announcement!
Vanity Fair reports that Lucasfilm has confirmed that three key projects are "still on the books," dispelling doubts and affirming their commitment to bringing these visions to fruition. These include James Mangold's Dawn of the Jedi, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy's new Jedi Order movie featuring Daisy Ridley's return as Rey Skywalker, and Dave Filoni's Mandalorian movie, a culmination event set in the MandoVerse. Mangold's project will focus on the origins of the Jedi, confirming that the three films will be set in differing yet important eras in the Star Wars Universe.

Additionally, Lucasfilm confirmed the Disney+ shows including The Acolyte and Skeleton Crew. The former is set in the High Republic era while the latter takes place at the same time as The Mandalorian, showcasing a diverse range of Star Wars narratives across different timelines.
What about the Lando Calrissian film?
Interestingly, there was no mention of the Lando Calrissian project in the article. Back in December 2020, Disney unveiled plans for a Lando series on Disney+, with Justin Simien serving as the showrunner. Fast forward to July 2023, reports surfaced that Donald Glover, set to reprise his role from Solo: A Star Wars Story, was attached to the project and would collaborate on the writing with his brother, Stephen. However, by September of the same year, Stephen Glover announced a shift in plans, revealing that the project was now intended as a feature film.

Despite Lucasfilm's history of shelving projects and the current challenges in the film industry, the studio's resolve to move forward with these announced Star Wars movies remains intact. At Star Wars Celebration 2023, Lucasfilm unveiled plans for several movies exploring different eras of the universe.
The confirmation of these three core movie projects spanning distinct Star Wars eras promises fans a variety of narratives, from ancient galactic history to uncharted future territories. Following the last Star Wars film in 2019, audiences can anticipate the release of these films in the coming years, adding excitement to the future of the Star Wars cinematic universe.
