There is little doubt that the Lando Calrissian series is one of the most highly anticipated Star Wars projects right now. After all, it's set to bring back Donald Glover as the younger version of Han Solo's old friend. Interestingly, we just got an update from Glover's brother who revealed that the project is being reworked into a full movie.
Back in July, it was confirmed that Donald and his brother Stephen Glover will work on the Lando Calrissian series for Disney+. The Glover brothers will pen the screenplay of the show that is expected to premiere on the streaming service. However, a new interview with Stephen Glover confirms that Lucasfilm and Disney have new plans for the project.
Stephen Glover recently joined Haunted Mansion filmmaker Justin Simien in a new interview on the Pablo Torre Finds Out podcast where he discussed the Star Wars project.
"I can pretty much be like, we're doing ... It's not even a show," Glover said. He later clarified that there are new plans for the project that was originally conceived as a series.
"No, the idea right now is to do a movie, but that's the thing: right now, because of the strike, it's like telephone, all the information," Glover stated.
This is a truly interesting update considering that fans were expecting a Disney+ series with at least eight episodes that will all focus on Lando's storyline before the events in the original Star Wars films. However, it is understandable that the project is moving slowly due to the strikes. Either way, it is awesome to know that the project, whether it's a show or a film, is still moving forward and could get an update in the next few months.
For now, details about the Lando Calrissian project have not yet been revealed. We only know that Donald Glover is expected to reprise his role as the beloved Star Wars character. Still, there are hopes that some of his Solo: A Star Wars Story co-stars will reprise their roles in the project (we're looking at you, Alden Ehrenreich). Nevertheless, there is a huge chance that we'll get some news in the near future. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
