Lucasfilm and The LEGO Group have unveiled the official trailer for LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy - Pieces of the Past, a four-part animated special that builds on the wildly creative universe of the 2024 special LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy. The trailer, released today, showcases a blend of humor, action, and inventive Star Wars mashups, highlighting the return of beloved characters alongside surprising new additions.

The story picks up with ordinary nerf herder Sig Greebling and his brother Dev, who previously unearthed a powerful LEGO artifact known as the Cornerstone, capable of remixing the entire Star Wars galaxy. In this sequel, a dangerous new threat emerges, forcing the brothers—now wielding abilities like Force Building and Sith Breaking—to team up once again. Joined by allies including the wise-cracking Jedi Bob, resourceful Yesi Scala, and the droid Servo, they embark on a quest into the deepest corners of LEGO Star Wars lore. Their mission: to uncover legendary pieces from every galaxy that has existed before, rebuilding a mixed-up universe filled with impossible crossovers and variants.

The trailer teases a host of creative Star Wars twists, including a Mandalorian-inspired Lando Calrissian dubbed the "Landolorian," a Sith version of Jar Jar Binks as Darth Jar Jar, and a towering, walker-sized Giant Chewbacca that looms large as a striking visual highlight. Additional quirky elements like Porg companions add to the playful chaos. Viewers can expect encounters with deep-cut characters such as the green-skinned rabbit alien Jaxxon from classic Star Wars comics, alongside fan-favorite heroes and villains reimagined in brick form. The narrative emphasizes playful takes on Star Wars tropes, leveraging various LEGO set styles—from squat BrickHeadz figures to larger-scale builds—to create a visually dynamic adventure.

Behind the scenes, the special is written and executive produced by Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit, known for their work on imaginative storytelling. Chris Buckley directs the series, with additional executive producers including James Waugh, Jacqui Lopez, Josh Rimes, Jill Wilfert, Jason Cosler, and Keith Malone. Producers Daniel Cavey and Dan Langlois round out the team, in collaboration with animation studio Atomic Cartoons.

Adding to the excitement, the trailer introduces a new villain, Solitus—a fallen Jedi voiced by acclaimed actor Dan Stevens—who poses a formidable challenge to the heroes. The special also draws inspiration from real LEGO Star Wars building sets, such as the new Force Burner Snowspeeder and the returning Dark Falcon from the previous installment, encouraging viewers to engage with the franchise beyond the screen. Notably, Alan Tudyk reprises his role as the sardonic droid K-2SO, bringing his signature wit to the brick-built galaxy.
