There are a lot of fan-favorite characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and two among the top picks are Iron Man and Black Widow. Being a part of the original members of the Avengers, there is no doubt that these two are among the favorites and with the rumor about them being back to the narrative, a lot of fans are looking forward to it. Now, the big boss, Kevin Feige, addresses the possibility of having Robert Downey Jr. and Scarlett Johansson back to the franchise.
Avengers: Endgame was quite the heartbreak to all the fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe when two of the original Avengers made the ultimate sacrifice to bring back half of the universe's existence. Black Widow had to go head-to-head with Hawkeye on who gets to sacrifice to obtain the soul stone and she managed to convince him to be the one to give her life. Iron Man fooled Thanos into thinking that the Mad Titan got all the stones when he slipped it into his hands and since that was too much for one to handle, it cost him his life. Their deaths brought so much pain to every MCU fan and the through of the possibility of them coming back makes everyone excited.
Speaking with ET during the premiere of The Marvels, Marvel big boss Kevin Feige addresses the circulating rumors about the original Avengers being revived which would mean that Robert Downey Jr. and Scarlett Johansson might be coming back to the MCU. Feige revealed:
We did not discuss that and that is the truth.We're doing a project with Scarlett. I love Robert, he's part of the family. But in terms of returning, we'll have to see.
How can Iron Man and Black Widow return to the MCU?
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is currently going through the Multiverse Saga where variants of the characters in the MCU exist from different alternate realities. This has been shown in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Loki Seasons 1 and 2, and Spider-Man: No Way Home. Having multiple realities bring endless possibilities and it could include that of one where the original Avengers still existed. However, there are some reactions that having them back together again would ruin the sacrifices they made in Endgame.
