Marvel Reportedly Considering Doing New Avengers Movie with Original Six Actors

With the slew of problems Marvel is facing today, from Jonathan Majors’ arrest to its dreamy move to expand the Marvel Cinematic Universe into streaming, the studio is reportedly planning to make a bold move to at least solve these issues. Allegedly, the company is considering doing a new Avengers movie, which will see the return of its six original actors.

According to a bombshell report in Variety, the Marvel creatives, including studio chief Kevin Feige, held an “angst-ridden” annual retreat in Palm Springs in September and talked about the “series of disappointments” it experienced as of late. The most pressing issue they said to have discussed was Majors’ domestic violence charges. As this controversy has greatly damaged the actor’s reputation, and he may even lose this case, Marvel is reportedly reconsidering its plans to make him the main villain of MCU’s Phase 5 as Kang the Conqueror.

The report also claimed that executives made backup plans, like introducing another comic book villain such as Dr. Droom. But knowing Majors has already made a big presence in the MCU, especially in the ongoing Loki Season 2, this may pose another problem to Marvel.

“Marvel is truly f****d with the whole Kang angle,” one top dealmaker said. “And they haven’t had an opportunity to rewrite until very recently [because of the WGA strike]. But I don’t see a path to how they move forward with him.”

But aside from Majors, there are also issues about The Marvels’ possible underwhelming performance at the box office and producing a lot of content that may overwhelm fans with superheroes, among others. That said, sources told Variety there are talks to bring back the original Avengers stars for a new movie.

How can the Avengers return to the MCU?

If this plan happens, Marvel may revive Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man and Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow after they die in Endgame. Of course, it will also see the return of Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, and Jeremy Renner as Captain America, Hulk, Thor, and Hawkeye, into the fold. Surely, making them all return to the MCU won’t be a problem at all.

Comic books often resurrect characters who have been killed off, and this could happen through the multiverse. However, Marvel has yet to confirm the claim. If ever it brings back these stars again, it will come with a price, as RDJ's paycheck alone reportedly costs over $20 million.

Surely, this idea will excite fans, seeing the original Marvel stars on the big screen again. But this should be taken with a grain of salt as nothing is confirmed yet.
