Is Madame Web Part of the MCU? Marvel Crossover Explained

Sony Pictures Entertainment brings forth Madame Web but is the upcoming movie part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Does it form part of the MCU canon and will there be a crossover, too? Find out here!

Is Madame Web Part of the MCU? Marvel Crossover Explained Credit: Sony Pictures Entertainment

Marvel is definitely rich with characters, both heroes and villains, and new faces are about to arrive in Sony Pictures Entertainment's Madame Web which is bound to introduce the titular character and other Spider-Man heroines. As its trailer hypes up the fans for its upcoming release early next year, the question on whether Madame Web is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe remains a question especially with the expansion of the MCU through the Multiverse Saga. Is there an upcoming crossover happening?

The first official trailer of Madame Web introduces Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb where she will be joined by Sydney Sweeney as Julia Carpenter, Celeste O'Connor as Mattie Franklin, and Isabela Merced as Anya Corazon. Together, they would be facing the villain of the movie, one who dons a Spider-Man-like suit, Ezekiel "Zeke" Sims who will be played by Tahir Rahim. Just as other Marvel properties under Sony Pictures Entertainment, Madame Web being MCU canon may be a blur but that does not mean that there can be no Marvel crossover happening soon.

Can Madame Web get a Marvel crossover in the MCU?

Madame Web is under the Spider-Man Universe of Sony Pictures Entertainment which means that it is not under the MCU canon. It should be noted that Tom Holland's Spider-Man is under the same Spider-Man Universe whilst being an integral part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and much recently, characters from Sony's Marvel properties made their way into the MCU narrative through Spider-Man: No Way Home which bridged the gap between the MCU and the Spider-Man Universe. Even Tom Hardy's Venom made his appearance in the same movie.

Now that the MCU brings forth the Multiverse Saga where variants and alternate realities exist, it would not be impossible to see Madame Web making a crossover into the MCU. One character that is rumored to connect Madame Web to the MCU and even the Spider-Verse is Uncle Ben who will reportedly be portrayed by Adam Scott. See, Uncle Ben never got his on-screen appearance in the MCU but he was, in fact, mentioned by Peter Parker in What If...? which could mean that Scott's Uncle Ben may be a variant in the MCU.

Other than that, Madame Web has something called as the "Web of Life and Death" which allows one to have access to any point in time or any reality in existence. Should this ability of Madame Web be present in her titular movie, then, it would be easy for her Web to connect the Spider-Man universe with that of the MCU.
