Sony Pictures has unveiled the official trailer for Madame Web, offering a glimpse into the Marvel film set to premiere in February 2024. The trailer introduces Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb, a clairvoyant with deep connections to Spider-Man, and prominently features Sydney Sweeney as Julia Carpenter, known to Marvel fans as the second Spider-Woman and the second Madame Web in the comics.

The Madame Web trailer opens will Cassandra walking into a diner where her young companions are waiting for her. She tells them it's time to leave just as a mysterious person in a Spider-suit enters the diner. He quickly attacks the girls, stabbing Cassandra who is revealed to be standing outside the diner. "Let's do this again," she declares.

It is later revealed that Cassandra is a paramedic who suddenly realizes she can see the future. Her ability becomes more important when she saves a few young girls from being killed by the mysterious Spider-Villain. Are they all secretly connected in her web?

The synopsis for Madame Web reads as follows:

“In a switch from the typical genre, Madame Web tells the standalone origin story of one of Marvel publishing’s most enigmatic heroines,” says the synopsis. “The suspense-driven thriller stars Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb, a paramedic in Manhattan who may have clairvoyant abilities. Forced to confront revelations about her past, she forges a relationship with three young women destined for powerful futures… if they can all survive a deadly present.”

Directed by S.J. Clarkson and scripted by Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama, Madame Web also boasts a stellar cast, including Celeste O’Connor, Isabela Merced, Tahar Rahim, Emma Roberts, Mike Epps, Adam Scott, and Zosia Mamet.

Who is Madame Web?

Cassandra Webb, also known as Madame Web, made her debut in 1980's Amazing Spider-Man #210 and is portrayed by Dakota Johnson in her live-action debut. The character has had various appearances, with Joan Lee voicing her in Spider-Man: The Animated Series in the 1990s and Susanne Blakeslee taking on the role in the 2010 video game Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions.

Madame Web is part of Sony's Spider-Man Universe (SSU), a shared universe that began with Venom in 2018, followed by Venom: Let There Be Carnage in 2021 and Morbius in 2022. Following Madame Web, the Aaron Taylor-Johnson-led Kraven the Hunter is set to hit theaters in August 2024, and the untitled Venom 3 is scheduled for November 2024.

Madame Web is set to release on February 14, 2024, marking the latest addition to Sony's expanding Spider-Man Universe.
