Domestic ratings climbed sharply across its run while global Netflix numbers placed the series near the top of non-English charts for weeks. Studio S has now confirmed it is holding positive discussions about a second season even as the first season’s finale remains fresh. The combination of strong local viewership and international streaming success has positioned the drama as one of the clearest renewal candidates of 2026.

A quiet bank manager and single father is forced back into his former life as a black-ops operative after his teenage daughter vanishes without warning. Kim Do-hyeon (So Ji-sub) has spent years living as an ordinary salaryman while carefully suppressing the skills and memories of his time as a covert agent. The series adapts the popular webtoon Manager Kim by author Toy and blends high-stakes action with the everyday pressures of parenthood as the protagonist races to find his missing child.

The drama follows Kim Do-hyeon as he teams up with two other fathers who also carry hidden pasts of their own. Seong Han-soo (Choi Dae-hoon), a former taekwondo champion running a local dojo, and Park Jin-cheol (Yoon Kyung-ho), a battle-hardened veteran now working as a school-zone volunteer, join the rescue effort out of shared paternal instinct. Their search for the missing girl expands into larger conflicts involving criminal networks, undercover agents, and lingering threats from Kim’s earlier life as an operative.

Agent Kim Reactivated Season 2 Renewal Status

Renewal has yet to be officially confirmed by Netflix. Studio S has nevertheless stated that talks for a second season are already underway following the conclusion of Season 1. The company issued the following statement regarding the situation:

Thanks to the tremendous love and support, we are currently holding positive discussions regarding the production of Season 2. As Season 1 has only just concluded, the detailed schedule has not yet been finalized. We kindly ask for your understanding, and we’ll share updates as quickly as possible once everything is confirmed.

No production timeline has been locked in yet. The strong performance of the first season has created clear momentum for continuation.

How Agent Kim Reactivated Season 1 Performed on Netflix

Agent Kim Reactivated became a major hit both in South Korea and across global Netflix rankings. Domestically, the series opened with a nationwide viewership rating of 9.5 percent and climbed steadily, reaching 23.1 percent by the eighth episode. That growth marked a clear success for the drama on local television.

On Netflix, the show has performed even more impressively since its June 26, 2026 release. It spent four consecutive weeks on the Non-English Global Top 10 list and held the number-one position for three of those weeks. During that period the series accumulated 189.4 million viewing hours, which translates to 34.4 million completed views. These numbers placed it well ahead of other weekly K-dramas released on the platform in 2026.

How much of the webtoon has Netflix's Agent Kim Reactivated adapted so far?

The first season of Agent Kim Reactivated has adapted roughly 45 chapters of the source webtoon Manager Kim. The original webtoon currently contains more than 250 chapters in total, leaving a substantial amount of material still available. This means there is ample room for additional seasons that can continue exploring the protagonist’s past, new missions, and expanding conflicts within the same universe.

Season 1 largely focused on the central kidnapping storyline and the formation of the core group of former operatives. Later arcs in the webtoon introduce broader criminal organizations, deeper character histories, and higher-stakes confrontations that remain unexplored on screen.

Who is expected to return in Agent Kim Reactivated Season 2?

The main cast is widely expected to return if Season 2 moves forward:

  • So Ji-sub as Kim Do-hyeon (Manager Kim)

  • Choi Dae-hoon as Seong Han-soo

  • Yoon Kyung-ho as Park Jin-cheol

  • Son Na-eun as Jung Sang-a

  • Seo Su-min as Kim Min-ji

Several supporting players may also reappear once casting is officially confirmed, though no full Season 2 lineup has been announced yet.

When can we expect Agent Kim Reactivated Season 2 to release on Netflix?

Any release window depends on when production of the second season begins. Filming for Season 1 ran from November 2025 through May 2026. Given that timeline and the fact that discussions are still in early stages, a realistic target would place Season 2 sometime in the second half of 2027 or early 2028.

Netflix and Studio S have not provided an official schedule. Once a production start date is locked in, a clearer premiere window should become available.

What will Agent of Kim Reactivated Season 2 be about?

The Season 1 finale resolves the central kidnapping while leaving the door open for continuation. After reuniting with his daughter, Kim Do-hyeon begins a new chapter by connecting with Baekho Manpower and meeting its director, Lee Do-gyu. The final scenes position him for fresh assignments rather than a quiet return to ordinary life.

Season 2 is expected to pick up from that setup. The remaining majority of the Manager Kim webtoon shifts the focus toward larger-scale operations, new alliances, and ongoing threats that extend far beyond the original case. The story is likely to explore Kim Do-hyeon’s continued involvement in high-risk missions while balancing his life as a father. Additional arcs introduce more complex organizations, personal confrontations from his past, and further development of the relationships formed in Season 1. With more than 200 chapters still available, the series has clear room to expand the world and raise the stakes in future installments.
