GTA 6 has already started earning awards, even though its release date is nearly two years away from now. The eagerly-awaited game is among some of the most successful entertainment products ever to exist, beating other things like a brand-new Star Wars movie, Avengers: Endgame, and other epic cultural events. The previous GTA game came out in 2013 and is the second-best-selling game in history.
Rockstar has quite a reputation for developing the best games, owing to its ability to have frustratingly long development times and massive budgets. Only a handful of studios exist now that can accomplish what Rockstar can, and it’s all leading towards GTA 6 being quite a unique game. With that being said, it looks like people all around the world are already recognizing this.
PlayStation recently held a small awards ceremony on its blog, celebrating the best games of 2023, but it also featured games that are right around the corner. When GTA 6’s reveal trailer came out at the beginning of December, it earned enough popularity to get nominated for PlayStation’s Most Anticipated Game of 2024 and Beyond. In a blog post, PlayStation said the following about the game:
The debut trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI offered a tantalizing glimpse to the richness and next-gen visual splendor that'll await PS5 players when they visit Vice City. And by the record number of views that trailer has received to date, the city's population is set to explode when the game launches in 2025.
Unfortunately, not much is known about the second trailer of GTA 6 and when it’ll come out. Considering the fact that the upcoming game isn’t releasing till 2025, we might not hear about it until the end of 2024 (possibly fall). Apparently, this is the pattern that Rockstar seems to be following for some time now.
What is the potential release date for GTA 6?
Ever since the first official trailer came out, there have been many leaks and rumors about the potential release date for GTA 6. The latest one in the line comes from a Reddit user called Rockstarlames, who says that they used to work at Rockstar Games and know the secrets that everyone wants to know.
They claim that during their time working for Rockstar Games, they saw a picture of a large map of the game, along with its release date. According to them, the release date for GTA 6 will allegedly be September 2025. If this turns out to be true, it would mean that we have to wait almost two full years to get our hands on GTA 6. Anyway, it is important to take this with a pinch of salt since it is just a rumor.
GTA 6 is set to come out in 2025 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
