The hidden world of the Awakened now has a month to aim for. The ELECEED anime will broadcast in April 2027, narrowing a release window that had previously been described only as the beginning of 2027.
The April 2027 broadcast was revealed through the anime's official website, which also released an English version of the trailer. Crunchyroll will stream the series as it airs.
The English trailer introduces Jiwoo Seo, a high schooler who has hidden his own mysterious power out of fear, and the battered stray cat he rescues. The cat talks, and he turns out to be Kayden, the strongest of the Awakened, trapped in feline form after being ambushed and gravely wounded.
Watch the trailer here:
Junya Enoki (Yuji Itadori in Jujutsu Kaisen) leads the cast as Jiwoo Seo. Tasuku Hatanaka (Denki Kaminari in My Hero Academia) voices Woo In, Setsuji Sato voices Dr. Delein, Hayato Dojima voices Jisuk Yoo and Shizuka Ito (Akeno Himejima in High School DxD) voices Jiyoung Yoo.
One major role is still being kept secret. The voice actor for Kayden Break has not been announced yet, even though Kayden drives much of the story from inside his cat form.
Hiroshi Nishikiori is directing the anime at DandeLion Animation Studio, the studio behind The First Slam Dunk. Yousuke Kuroda is handling series composition and the scripts, Minami Sakura is designing the characters and Taku Iwasaki is composing the music.
The April date ends a long stretch of vagueness around the premiere. The anime was originally announced for 2026, before the production shifted the debut to early 2027 in June 2026 alongside a new key visual.
A first main trailer and the main cast followed in July 2026. This week's update is the first to lock the broadcast down to a specific month, and the English trailer signals the push toward international audiences is underway.
What is ELECEED about?
ELECEED is based on the battle-action and action-comedy webtoon written by Jeho Son and illustrated by ZHENA. The series has been serialized on Naver Webtoon since 2018 and is published in English on WEBTOON, reaching readers in more than 10 languages and surpassing 1.7 billion views worldwide.
Hidden in the shadows of the modern world, associations and organizations of the Awakened operate in secret. These are people who possess superhuman abilities, and ordinary society knows nothing about them.
Jiwoo knows nothing about that world either, even though his own power gives him lightning-quick reflexes. He has spent his life hiding what he can do, quietly using his speed to help people and animals without being seen.
Everything changes when he nurses an injured stray cat back to health and the cat starts giving him orders. Kayden cannot return to his human form, so he moves in with Jiwoo while he recovers, and the unlikely pair are soon pulled into the organizations and conspiracies of the Awakened world.
WEBTOON describes the series' setup this way:
Jiwoo is a kind-hearted young man who harnesses the lightning quick reflexes of a cat to secretly make the world a better place – one saved little child or foster pet at a time.
ELECEED broadcasts in April 2027 and streams on Crunchyroll. Further details, including the voice of Kayden and the exact premiere date, are still to come.
