Deadpool & Wolverine has proven to be a major crossover between the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Fox’s X-Men universe, with the many cameos it will feature. Patrick Stewart is already confirmed to reprise his role as Charles Xavier / Professor X in the threequel, and he's not the only mutant character to appear. Marvel Entertainment has just released the final trailer for Deadpool 3, finally confirming the return of Dafne Keen as Laura Kinney / X-23 after James Mangold’s 2017 Logan.
You can watch the Deadpool & Wolverine final trailer below:
The new Deadpool & Wolverine preview shows a different Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds). This time, he appears serious after learning what will happen amid the threat in the sacred timeline. He finally faces Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) and admits he has long waited for their team-up. While trying to convince Wolverine to join him in his mission, he says the mutant is well-regarded in his world.
“You were an X-Man,” Wade says as scenes of Wolverine from different X-Men movies play out. “F*** that, you were the X-Man. The Wolverine.”
Wade confesses that Wolverine is a hero in his world, but Logan refuses to believe that, adding that he is not like that in his own world. Alioth takes the skies as Cassandra Nova (Emma Corrin) appears in the Void, where the former crosses over. From there, Wolverine reveals that Scott begs him to wear his yellow suit, as does Storm and Beast.
The X-Men villains Toad (Ray Park) and Sabretooth (Tyler Mane) prepare to face Deadpool and Wolverine in the Void. The scene then shifts to Wolverine and Cassandra’s fight. He then appears in a car where Deadpool shows him a picture of his family and friends, who he considers his entire world, as he continuously convinces him to save the world.
“Whoever you think I am, you got the wrong guy,” Wolverine says as X-23 suddenly appears, telling him he was “always the wrong guy.” “Till you weren’t,” she continues. Fans easily notice that she wears a grey shirt this time, referencing the color of her suit in the Marvel comics.
As several scenes play one after another, the trailer finally gives a full look at Lady Deadpool, though she keeps her mask on. Eventually, Wolverine agrees to join Deadpool, stressing he’s ready and he’s THE Wolverine. Later, Deadpool mimics Spider-Man’s web-shooting move, seemingly hinting at the Friendly Neighborhood superhero’s cameo.
Dafne Keen Initially Denies Her Appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine
Before this big reveal, Keen initially denied her appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine. In an interview with On Demand Entertainment, she flat-out lied about her part in the movie, as Marvel Studios didn’t want to mess with the timeline of James Mangold’s 2017 Logan, where she first appeared as X-23 and Wolverine himself died.
“It's sad...I love Hugh Jackman...Ryan Reynolds is a legend ... It would've been amazing to be a part of it,” she said. “They’re not gonna mess with Logan’s timeline.”
In a different interview with ComicBook in May while promoting Star Wars: The Acolyte, the Spanish actress only shared her reaction to people who wanted to see her return as X-23. From what she said, she was trying to avoid answering the question about her potential return.
“What goes through your head is, first of all, how cool that something is that big that it seeps and it bleeds into other projects,” she said. “And how cool it is that I got to be a part of something that had such a huge legacy that almost ten years later, I'm still being asked about, and that just feels pretty huge.”
Evidently, Keen pulled off an Andrew Garfield move when he denied his part in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Though her scenes in the movie didn’t leak, confirming her return in the trailer adds to the many reasons viewers should watch Deadpool & Wolverine.
Deadpool & Wolverine is set to hit theaters on July 26.
