Taylor Swift is already known as the biggest pop star right now but could she also be exceptional in another field? Shawn Levy believes that the Bad Reputation singer is a true "generational voice and creative force", even going as far as to compare Swift to the legendary Steven Spielberg!
Levy had previously worked with Taylor Swift on her All Too Well music video and although he chose not to speak about their collaboration, he shared his thoughts on Swift during an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
"Taylor has not consulted me about upcoming directing projects, but I think she has the makings of a hell of a director," Levy said. He went on to say that Swift was one of a few people whose creativity is truly unmatched.
"That list is short. Taylor, the depth of her vision for how she wants a creative piece to be, whether it's a lyric, a melody, a bridge, a concert tour, a video, it's profound. It's profoundly vivid, and she has the strength of her convictions," Levy said.
He then stated that Swift's creative vision reminded him of the way Steven Spielberg handled things.
"Spielberg was on the set of a movie he produced that I directed, called Real Steel, and I said to him, 'How do you know it's the right shot?' His answer was, 'The way you see it, that makes it right,'" Levy said. "I feel like that's something Taylor Swift has figured out really well, because that's about trusting your instinct."
It's an intriguing statement from the filmmaker considering that Spielberg is viewed as one of the most accomplished directors of all time. On the other hand, it looks like Swift clearly knows what she is doing. After directing several of her own music videos, it has been confirmed that she has written a script for a still-untitled film that will be produced by Fox Searchlight. Although the details of her upcoming project have not yet been revealed, fans are hoping that an announcement will be made soon.
Levy's involvement in a Taylor Swift project has also led to speculations that she will appear in Deadpool 3. It is believed that Swift will make an appearance in the Ryan Reynolds film although her role has not been specified. Nevertheless, fans think she will play the Marvel character Dazzler in the third Deadpool movie.
Deadpool 3 will be directed by Shawn Levy who is writing the script along with Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Zeb Wells. The third movie will bring back Hugh Jackman as Wolverine on what is believed to be his final return as the mutant. It will also star Morena Baccarin, Brianna Hildebrand, and Jennifer Garner, who is returning as Elektra Natchios. Deadpool 3 is currently scheduled to premiere in theaters on May 3, 2024.
Swift's concert film Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour documents her recent concert tour of the same name which is described as "a journey through all of her musical eras." The film is now screening in theaters in North America.
