Currently screening in Japan, Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc is set to storm U.S. theaters starting October 24, bringing the chaotic, devil-hunting world of Chainsaw Man to the big screen in a bold new chapter.

Adapted from Tatsuki Fujimoto’s wildly popular manga serialized in Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+, which has sold over 30 million copies worldwide, Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc dives into one of the series’ most beloved story arcs. Following the success of the 2022 TV anime by MAPPA, known for works like Jujutsu Kaisen and Attack on Titan: The Final Season, this theatrical release promises an extravagant, action-packed spectacle centered on love, desire, and brutal devil-hunting battles.

The new trailer showcases the film’s intense energy, featuring the insert song HAWATARI NIOKU CENTI (2-hundred-million-centimeter-long blades) by MAXIMUM THE HORMONE in a 70% unlocked edit. The trailer highlights jaw-dropping animation, visceral action sequences, and the emotional stakes of Denji’s evolving story. Complementing the insert song, the film features a theme song, “IRIS OUT,” by Kenshi Yonezu, and an ending theme, JANE DOE, a collaboration between Yonezu and Hikaru Utada, both under Sony Music Labels Inc.

The story follows Denji, voiced by Kikunosuke Toya, a young devil hunter with a devil’s heart who transforms into the titular Chainsaw Man. As a member of Public Safety’s Special Division 4, Denji’s life takes a turn after a date with his crush, Makima (Tomori Kusunoki). Caught in a sudden downpour, he meets Reze (Reina Ueda), a mysterious girl working at a nearby café. Her gentle smile sparks a connection, drawing Denji into a whirlwind of romance and danger that reshapes his world. The film promises a chaotic blend of human and devil conflicts, with Reze’s arrival setting the stage for Denji’s deadliest battle yet.

Directed by Tatsuya Yoshihara, with a screenplay by Hiroshi Seko and character designs by Kazutaka Sugiyama, the film boasts a stellar creative team. The staff includes assistant director Masato Nakazono, action animation director Sota Shigetsugu, and devil designers Riki Matsuura and Kiyotaka Oshiyama. The score, composed by Kensuke Ushio, enhances the film’s frenetic pace, while TOHO handles distribution, and MAPPA delivers its signature high-quality animation.

The voice cast brings back fan-favorite characters, including Shiori Izawa as Pochita, Shogo Sakata as Aki, Fairouz Ai as Power, and Maaya Uchida as the Angel Devil, alongside new additions like Reze. The film’s visual and auditory elements, from its meticulously crafted devil designs to its vibrant color palette by Naomi Nakano, promise a cinematic experience that matches the manga’s raw intensity.

Crunchyroll, which will distribute the film in U.S. theaters, describes Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc as follows:

For the first time, Chainsaw Man slashes his way onto the big screen in an epic, action-fueled adventure that continues the hugely popular anime series. Denji worked as a Devil Hunter for the yakuza, trying to pay off the debt he inherited from his parents, until the yakuza betrayed him and had him killed. As he was losing consciousness, Denji’s beloved chainsaw-powered devil-dog, Pochita, made a deal with Denji and saved his life. This fused the two together, creating the unstoppable Chainsaw Man. Now, in a brutal war between devils, hunters, and secret enemies, a mysterious girl named Reze has stepped into his world, and Denji faces his deadliest battle yet, fueled by love in a world where survival knows no rules.
