Satoshi Hino & Akihisa Wakayama Discuss Their Roles in Blue Lock Season 2
Hino and Wakayama discuss their roles in Blue Lock Season 2 in their comments on the anime's website. Hino (Rurouni Kenshin, Black Clover, T・P Bon) sees his character as Aizora with a strong personality and unique charm, which makes him attracted to the series’ characters as they all grow as a team while being able to express their opinions.
However, though Aizora plays an important role in the team’s unity and cooperation, he can’t deny that he has a selfish side. As a reliable character, he will push his ideal soccer style to others. But if there’s one thing that Hino wants to portray perfectly, it’s Aizora’s “very mature sex appeal,” which he wishes to bring out in the story.
On the other hand, Wakayama finds Blue Lock Season 2 as a work that focuses on “ego” and “egoists.” Despite these two words' negative connotations, he reveals that the anime has depicted them in a “very passionate way” in the world of soccer “without any unpleasantness, as the key to each character's failure, challenge, and growth.”
“I really look forward to seeing how these individuals change within a group made up of strong individuals, and even though I used to be a huge fan of manga in book form, I've started following the latest chapters for the first time in a long time,” he said.
Despite being an ace striker, Wakayama sees Aizora as psychologically weak and a small-time samurai. However, he still describes him as a charming character who will get in the way of the Blue Lock team.
