Spider-Man: Brand New Day launched with an estimated $355 million in North American ticket sales across its opening weekend. That total secured the second-largest domestic debut of all time, falling just short of the $357 million record set by Avengers: Endgame in 2019.

The film also claimed the biggest opening weekend in Sony Pictures history. It further established a new single-day mark by generating $168 million on Friday alone, exceeding the previous high held by Avengers: Endgame.

The Sony Pictures release collected an additional $572 million from international territories, a figure that included $121 million earned in China. Those overseas results combined with the domestic haul to produce a worldwide opening of $927 million, ranking as the second-largest global debut ever and trailing only Avengers: Endgame.

Tom Holland reprises his role as Peter Parker alongside Zendaya in the latest chapter of the series. Their continued pairing anchors the story as the characters navigate new challenges following the events of previous films.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day arrives as the direct successor to 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home. That earlier installment grossed more than $1.9 billion worldwide and stood as the first movie to surpass the billion-dollar global threshold in the years after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Strong critical and audience scores accompanied the commercial performance. The film holds a 90 percent rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes and received an A CinemaScore from opening-weekend audiences.

The massive opening contributed to the highest weekend total ever recorded for North American movie theaters. Overall ticket sales across the marketplace reached an estimated $430 million during the three-day period.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the film features Tom Holland and Zendaya in the lead roles, with Jacob Batalon returning as Ned Leeds, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk, Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/Punisher, and Sadie Sink in a key supporting part. Cretton guides this expanded ensemble through a story that advances the franchise while introducing new dynamics among the established and incoming characters.

Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, which also features Holland and Zendaya in key roles, finished second at the domestic box office. The film earned $51 million during its third weekend of release while competing against the new Spider-Man title.
