Star Wars Rebels made its way to the live-action scene through the recent series of Lucasfilm on Disney+ with Ahsoka. The future of the franchise remains bright as the show easily became one of the top on the streaming platform as it unveiled huge surprises like Ezra Bridger coming to life through Eman Esfandi. Surprisingly, the actor reveals that he did not even finish watching Rebels before playing the role and the reason behind.

Eman Esfandi broke the news when he made his on-screen debut as the Jedi Knight Ezra Bridger in Ahsoka. He was with other Rebels characters such as Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, and Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren. Speaking at the LA Comic Con’s Ahsoka Panel (via The Direct), Esfandi reveals that he did not finish Rebels before bringing the character to life:

If you would have found this out prior you might have taken my head off. I didn’t watch all of Rebels . I didn’t want to get too caught up in the younger version of Ezra. I felt very connected to an older version the way he was written.

The reason of Esfandi seems quite a valid point considering that a lot could happen to a person, more so, a Jedi Knight, through the years from being a teenager to a full grown adult. At that time in Rebels, Bridger was only a Jedi in training, still not ripe in age, and had a lot of his future ahead of him. To bring in his own take on Bridger, Esfandi thought it'd be best to leave the childhood of Bridger be and do the character in his own way.

Ahsoka Season 1 finale witnessed how Ezra Bridger was lucky and unlucky at the same time. He was unlucky because he was also separated from some of his friends: Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren back in Peridea. But on the bright side, he was lucky to be able to escape to Peridea and be reunited with Hera Syndulla and Chopper which is where his story would most likely pick up on. That being said, there is quite some certainty that Eman Esfandi would be back to reprise the role. Ahsoka Season 2, if given a green light, could be a great avenue for the story of Bridger to ripen with Syndulla as they bring about the opposition of the New Republic against the threats of Thrawn and the Imperial Remnants.
