After 26 years, the much-loved X-Men: The Animated Series will continue in the upcoming Disney+ reboot X-Men ’97. As everyone prepares for this grand return, one of the series cast members, Lenore Zann, who voices Rogue, teases what fans are about to see in the first season, and it will surely be a “wild ride.”
X-Men ’97 is based on the Marvel Comics superhero group X-Men, and it will be the new revival show of the classic X-Men: The Animated Series, which ran from 1992 to 1997, and will continue where it left off. Aside from Zann, it will see the return of the original voice actors from the ‘90s series, like Cal Dodd, George Buza, Catherine Disher, Chris Potter, Alison Sealy-Smith, Adrian Hough, Christopher Britton, and Alyson Court.
So, what can Zann say about her return? In an interview with Toonado, the 63-year-old found it a great opportunity to reprise her role as Rogue, who has become her favorite character to play. “I’m grateful to the fans for their loyalty and support for our original series and my performance, which has made this possible,” she said.
Evidently, she’s being careful not to give away anything about the series. However, she teased what fans could expect from her character in X-Men ’97, revealing the female mutant would “go through a lot” as usual.
“Like me, she’s a passionate woman who can’t help wearing her heart on her sleeve,” she continued. “So, buckle up for a wild ride!”

What will happen to Rogue in X-Men 97?
Speaking at the X-Men: 60 Uncanny Years Live Virtual Event, the creator and head writer Beau DeMayo hinted at Rogue’s story in X-Men ’97. This time, her journey would involve Gambit as they both question why they couldn't enjoy the “life of acceptance” that they have fought hard for.
“The will they, won’t they couple Gambit and Rogue are starting to question, ‘Maybe there is a life… we’ve been fighting for this life of acceptance, can we just go out there and enjoy it for once, maybe?’” he said.
However, Magneto then shows up and tries to do the same thing as Professor X did for mutant-kind and be a force for good for them. Despite that, the X-Men will still wonder how they can face the future.
Disney+ has yet to reveal the official release date of X-Men ’97. But with this new update, coupled with the previous teasers, many can no longer wait to see the return of the original series' continuation.
