Woo Do-hwan returns as a more mature Baek Ki-hyun in newly released character stills for Made in Korea 2, capturing the lieutenant colonel’s deepening internal conflict as he is forced to choose between family loyalty and his own convictions.
The first season of Made in Korea centered on Baek Ki-tae (Hyun Bin), a man driven by relentless ambition for wealth and power, and prosecutor Jang Geon-young (Jung Woo-sung), who sacrificed everything in his efforts to stop him. Their confrontation unfolded against the backdrop of a monumental event during the turbulent 1970s, setting the stage for a high-stakes power struggle that left lasting consequences.
In that first season, Woo Do-hwan portrayed Baek Ki-hyun, the younger brother of Baek Ki-tae and a principled soldier. His character was defined by complicated feelings toward his older sibling and the heavy weight of his duty as a soldier, creating an ongoing internal tension that carried into the new season.
Nine years after the events of the first season finale, Baek Ki-hyun has risen to the rank of lieutenant colonel in the Security Command. He now finds himself caught between his older brother Baek Ki-tae, who continues to pursue even greater ambitions without restraint, and Jang Geon-young, who has been carefully preparing a counterattack. Forced to navigate a situation where trust is scarce, Ki-hyun must ultimately choose between family loyalty and his own convictions as the ambitions of those around him spiral out of control.
The new stills capture a more mature Baek Ki-hyun and the complexity of his inner world. In one image, he is shown lost in deep thought, reflecting the struggle between his inability to turn his back on his brother and his responsibility to uphold his personal principles.
Another still shows him looking sharply at Jang Geon-young, revealing clear wariness and the unease that comes from existing in a space where he cannot easily trust anyone.
A third image depicts Ki-hyun looking tense while speaking to someone on the phone, underscoring the growing pressure as his brother’s reckless pursuit of power continues and the threat of crisis looms closer.
Made in Korea 2 will premiere with its first two episodes on September 9. The series consists of a total of six episodes, with two new episodes released every Wednesday on Disney+ and Hulu.
