Virgin River Season 6 Release Will Be Majorly Delayed

It looks like fans have to wait a little longer before finally seeing Virgin River Season 6.

After a successful two-part fifth season, fans look forward to seeing the continuation of Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack's (Martin Henderson) story in Virgin River Season 6. Though the series already has its filming schedule, it looks like the new season will experience a major delay and won’t be released until 2025.

Deadline has reported that several hit Netflix series will be delayed and won’t return this year. Sadly, aside from the much-awaited Stranger Things Season 5, Wednesday Season 2, One Piece Season 2, Sweet Magnolia Season 4, and Ginny & Georgia Season 3, Virgin River Season 6 has been included.

Though the show doesn’t require extensive post-production like Stranger Things and One Piece, several other factors cause the delay, including the weather. Breckenridge earlier revealed that the filming would start in Vancouver as soon as the weather allowed and might begin in the spring.

We previously reported that the new season’s production would run from February 2 to May 17 this year. But as the spring won’t begin until March, the production may have been again delayed.

Virgin River Season 6 was originally scheduled to start its production over the summer, but the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes happened. So, it was later moved until a resolution was met that badly affected its release date.

What to Expect from Virgin River Season 6

The previous season's second part might have tied its first batch of episodes' loose ends, but it didn’t end without several major cliffhangers. This still involves Mel’s father, the possible consequences of Wes’ (Steve Bacic) death, and the mystery surrounding Brady’s (Ben Hollingsworth) girlfriend. That said, the show’s producer and writer Erin Cardillo told Tudum that more chaos would ensue.

She teased that “plenty more complications” would happen to the fan-favorite characters in the new season. Her fellow producer and writer Richard Keith agreed and added these problems would affect the “too beautiful and too awesome to be too happy for too long” couple. As fans might quickly think he was talking about Jack and Mel, he assured fans that they were not who he was referring to. However, he added that if they spare this couple from any issue, Keith said there would be “nothing to watch.”

Keith explained:

Yes, the characters do go through some pretty terrible things, but there’s always a happy ending. It may not be the happy ending they were expecting, but they find their way to a happy place that, in some ways, might be happier than if they’d ended up where they thought they would to begin with.
