Virgin River Season 6 is finally shaping up. Cameras have officially started rolling for the new season after production was delayed due to SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes last year. But aside from this exciting update, showrunner Patrick Sean Smith drops a big tease, revealing what’s next for the fan-favorite couple, Mel and Jack.
Tudum confirmed Virgin River Season 6 has officially begun production in Vancouver, Canada. After not seeing each other since the end of 2022, Smith revealed he’s excited to reunite the cast and crew in the West Coast city.
“It’s incredible to just all be back together again,” he said.
Smith also feels generous enough to share what will happen next season. He teased that Mel and Jack would “advance on their path to parenthood.” After buying the property in the previous season finale, they will also turn Lily’s farm into their dream home.

What to Expect from Virgin River Season 6
Smith confirmed that Virgin River Season 6 will take place a few months after the previous season’s Christmas episodes, as they will go “deeper into springtime.” Moreover, he earlier revealed that babies and weddings would never be off the table. Though the characters would go through some serious problems, there would always be a happy ending.
The series writer and producer Richard Keith explained:
It may not be the happy ending they were expecting, but they find their way to a happy place that, in some ways, might be happier than if they’d ended up where they thought they would to begin with.
Smith added some of the favorite characters would be going in new directions, like Preacher, Brady, and Kaia. He also teased that some favorites from the past would return, along with the new face around town, Everett Reid, Mel’s biological father.
So far, Netflix has yet to reveal the official release date of Virgin River Season 6. But as the filming has begun, it’s expected to come out soon.
