The Trauma Code Season 2 Reportedly Adds Lee Bong-joon

A Get Schooled villain could be scrubbing in next to Ju Ji-hoon as The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call builds its Season 2 team.

Lee Bong-joon is reportedly on his way into the trauma center, with the Get Schooled actor in talks to join The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call Season 2. Nothing has been officially confirmed yet, but if the report holds, he would become the newest addition to a season that is already bringing back Ju Ji-hoon and the core trauma team.

The report comes from OSEN, which reported on November 6 that Lee Bong-joon would appear in the new season of the Netflix series. His agency, Lucky Company, told the outlet it is "positively discussing" his appearance, stopping short of a final confirmation. Industry insiders cited in the report say his casting is effectively finalized.

A confirmed role would mark Lee Bong-joon's second Netflix series in a matter of months. He broke out in June in Get Schooled, playing Jo Gyu-cheol, a paroled student whose return to Jinwon High School made him the drama's central villain. OSEN points to that chilling performance as the backdrop for the new casting, noting his back-to-back run in Netflix hits has even sparked talk of him becoming a fixture of the streamer's Korean slate.

Few recent Korean medical dramas have traveled as far. The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call follows genius surgeon Baek Kang-hyuk, played by Ju Ji-hoon, who is brought in to resuscitate a severe trauma team that exists in name only, and its first season landed in the Netflix Top 10 in 63 countries. The response was strong enough for Netflix to confirm Seasons 2 and 3, which will be produced at the same time.

Most of the trauma team is already locked in for the new run. Ju Ji-hoon returns as Baek Kang-hyuk, with Choo Young-woo as Yang Jae-won, Yoon Kyung-ho as Han Yu-rim and Jung Jae-kwang as Park Kyung-won reprising their roles. Jung Ye-in joins as veteran nurse Cheon Jang-mi, taking over the role after Ha Young stepped down amid controversy over her great-grandfather's pro-Japanese activities, while director Lee Do-yoon returns to direct Season 2 and write its script.

Lee Bong-joon's rise to this point ran through the stage before it reached streaming. Born in 1995, he debuted in the 2020 musical Jesus and built his craft in productions including Spring Awakening, Werther and the play Bad Magnet. His screen credits have since grown to include Youth of May, Alchemy of Souls, Chief Detective 1958 and Resident Playbook.

What role he would play remains under wraps. Neither the report nor his agency has named a character, and Netflix has not commented on the casting or announced a premiere date for Season 2. If the talks close as expected, an official confirmation would settle both questions.
