A first love is about to walk back through the door after 12 years apart. Shin Min-a and Lee Jin-uk will lead MBC's new Friday-Saturday romance Wed Thurs Fri, with Teo Yoo completing the central trio of a story built around second chances.

Confirmation of the casting came from MBC via Yonhap, which announced the three leads for the 12-episode series on November 5. The drama is set at a restaurant called Wed Thurs Fri, a place that opens only on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays each week.

Love, forgiveness and personal growth sit at the center of the story the series wants to tell. Its heroine returns to the man she left behind more than a decade ago, and the reunion forces both of them to face the life each built in the other's absence.

Shin Min-a plays Cha Eun-soo, a woman who comes back looking for the first love she parted ways with 12 years ago while concealing her true intentions. After their relationship ended, she went on to become another man's wife, even though she still longs deep down for the life she truly wants.

Lee Jin-uk plays Kim Dong-woo, the chef of the restaurant Wed Thurs Fri. Haunted by memories of a first love he failed to hold on to, he has led an emotionally detached life, working only three days a week and spending the remaining four doing absolutely nothing, until Cha Eun-soo walks into his restaurant and disrupts his peaceful routine.

Teo Yoo joins the cast as Lee Won-pil, Cha Eun-soo's husband and an executive director at Hangu Construction. Despite his professional competence and wealth, he does not know how to love, and even his way of protecting someone is far from conventional, occasionally revealing distorted desires of his own.

That triangle gives the reunion its sharpest edge, because Eun-soo is not simply returning to an old boyfriend. Her arrival threatens a marriage, a businessman's pride and a chef's carefully empty routine all at once, and each of the three leads enters the story hiding something from the others.

Behind the camera, Jung Dong-yoon directs the series, bringing experience from the Gyeongseong Creature series and Stove League. Joo Hyun wrote the screenplay after penning The World of the Married, while Kang Eun-kyung, who wrote the Dr. Romantic series, participates as the drama's creator.

The creative pairing points to a romance with real weight behind its melodrama. Joo Hyun's name carries the memory of one of Korean television's biggest marriage dramas, and Kang Eun-kyung's involvement adds another writer known for long-running, character-driven hits.

Casting Shin Min-a opposite Lee Jin-uk also sets up a pairing audiences have not seen carry a series together before. Her return to a contemporary romance follows her current run in The Remarried Empress, while Lee Jin-uk takes the quieter, wounded role of a man whose whole life has narrowed to three working days a week.
