The Marvels is set to introduce a villain that landed straight from the comic books, but Nia DaCosta recently shared that it’s going to be different from the comics. Captain Marvel will soon be making her grand entrance to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and fans are thrilled about the much-anticipated movie. Featuring Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, Iman Vellani as Ms. Marvel, and Teyonah Parris as Photon, this movie is sure to feature the dynamic duo as they grow together and fight against evil.
The director of the movie, NiaDaCosta, recently talked to Total Film magazine to share her approach to the villain, Dar-Benn. Mary Livanos, the movie’s producer, described the revolutionary Kree warrior as a “deep-cut” in the same interview. However, the filmmakers and producers did receive a license to switch a couple of things around in the movie. In the comics, Dar-Benn was a male, whereas Zawe Ashton plays a female version of him.
Brie Larson's Captain Marvel is still required to battle the Kree revolutionary even though the interpretation might not directly relate to one of the Dar-Benns from the comics. You can read the filmmaker’s entire response below:

In an interview with EW, the actress talked about the advice the Loki actor shared with her. She shared how he played his own part in the popular franchise and how he got into it. What else to expect from The Marvels?
Carol Danvers, famously known as Captain Marvel, has officially gotten her identity back from the evil Kree and has taken her revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. However, due to some unpredictable circumstances, the hero is forced to shoulder the entire burden of an unbalanced universe. In order to fulfill her duties, she goes through an abnormal wormhole that is linked to a Kree revolutionary.
Due to this, her powers merge with those of Kamala Khan, also known as Ms. Marvel, as well as Carol’s estranged niece, now S.A.B.E.R, Monica Rambeau. Now, this trio is required to work together and figure out what’s up with their powers, all while saving the universe as “The Marvels.” Sounds pretty exciting, right?
The Marvels is set to release in theatres on November 10, 2023.
