Stranger Things Season 5 is still far from happening with it under pre-production and with the strikes still going, the release may be pushed back, too. Executive producer and director Shawn Levy revealed to an interview with Collider what he expects the Duffer brothers to pitch for Stranger Things Season 5:

I know that Brothers already hinted at this publicly, but when we sat there and heard the two-hour-long pitch-out for the storyline of this final season, I don’t think there was a dry eye in the room by the time the brothers were done... so yeah, this last season will be both epic and very emotional. I think making it will be pretty damn emotional, too, since this show has changed the life of every one of us who have worked on it. Anyway, writing is going really well, and we can’t wait to head into production next year.

While there is no official synopsis yet, Stranger Things Season 5 is expected to pick up from the events of the finale of Season 4 where Hawkins is slowly being taken over by the Upside Down. Fitting as the first lines shared by the writers of the series, the darkness of the Upside Down is starting to seep into Hawkins and the town is about to get real ugly as the darkness starts killing the life in it. The Hawkins heroes would now have to do something to stop the Upside Down from spreading across the whole world and with Eleven still facing some challenges with her abilities, the whole team would have to put in all their efforts to save the town and possibly, the whole world, from being taken over by the Upside Down.
