Stranger Things Season 5 is now deep in production in Atlanta, and the cast has been teasing what fans can expect from the final season. The fan-favorite 1980s teenagers will soon return for their final fight against Vecna and the monsters from the Upside Down, and viewers will surely be on a wild ride. Jamie Campbell Bower himself even teases a “completely insane” final season.

Bower, who plays Henry Creel/Vecna, graced iHeart’s I’ve Never Said This Before With Tommy DiDario and talked about Stranger Things Season 5. If fans thought the previous season was already packed with drama and action, the final installment will up the ante with the major and unexpected events about to unfold.

“If you thought last season was nuts, this season is just out of control, wild, like, it’s bonkers. It really, really is,” he said. “It’s bigger. It’s just completely insane. It’s completely insane.”

If the actor felt the events in the fourth season were easy to track, he could not understand what was happening in the final season. He then recalled his role as Caius in the Twilight Saga, revealing that it was the time he redid or rediscovered his character while filming. Several years later, he experienced it again while playing the role of Vecna, thanks to the Stranger Things: The First Shadow play in London.

“It’s just continually building,” he continued. “It’s been really interesting as well to have the play on in London, which I went to go and see, which goes back to Henry before we met him in season four.”

Set in 1959, before the main events of Stranger Things, The First Shadow follows the story of young Henry Creel as he moves to Hawkins, Indiana, with his family to start a new life. However, starting anew isn’t as easy as it sounds for them, as the shadows of the past keep hunting them. With this villain's backstory, Bower understands his character more, answering all his questions.

“And to have a lot of the questions or a lot of the thoughts that I had about that character kind of answered by watching the play and also discover more was really interesting for me,” he explained.

Bower also teased that there would be an “even higher level of detail” in Stranger Things Season 5, which excited him more as an artist. And if they had already filmed a lot since the production started in January, they still had much more to go.

What to Expect from Stranger Things Season 5

Though details about Stranger Things Season 5 remain scarce, the cast has been teasing what to expect from their final battle against Vecna. In an interview with ComicBook last year, David Harbour, who plays Jim Hopper, teased it would be “bigger and more exciting” as they knocked the final season out of the park.

“So, if we don't, give me all of your fan rage. Write the petitions. Go ahead, do it,” he dared. “I'm going to pour my whole heart into this thing.”

The Black Widow star even teased that the scripts were “stunningly beautiful,” promising to deliver the finale he and the viewers wanted. Alternatively, the show’s creators, Matt and Ross Duffer, told The Wrap in 2022 that the final season would be a tear-jerker. After they pitched the story to the Netflix executives, they saw them cry.

“We do have an outline for season 5, and we pitched it to Netflix, and they really responded well to it,” Ross said. “I mean, it was hard. It's the end of the story. I saw executives crying who I've never seen cry before and it was wild.”

However, those teasers weren’t just about the story but about the fact that the show would end seven years after defining their lives and working with people who had been with them since the show started. Though they’re now working on the series’ final episodes, Ross admitted that it was hard to imagine their journey was about to end.
