Star Wars: The Acolyte is gearing up for its nearing release. In less than two weeks, the investigation into the shocking Jedi spree killing will begin. As many believe that Amandla Stenberg’s Mae is behind these murders, the very first The Acolyte clip shows Lee Jung-jae’s Jedi Master Sol facing the former Padawan in an epic battle.

You can watch The Acolyte clip below:

As shared by IGN, The Acolyte shows Mae throwing her dagger at Sol as a warning. She then prepares for their face-off as she removes her cloak and attacks her former Jedi Master. But Sol effortlessly dodges her every move, from her kicks to her punches, making them look like they are dancing.

“You attack me without your weapon,” Sol tells her. “Why?”

The battle between the two continues, and Mae is upset that she can’t even land a hit. Left with no choice, she reaches for her daggers, not knowing Sol already has them. This shows how skilled a fighter Sol is. And though Mae possesses great fighting skills, she’s still no match for a Jedi Master.

Amandla Stenberg Undergoes Intense Training for Star Wars: The Acolyte

Mae has proven that she’s a force to be reckoned with, as seen in the previous promos for The Acolyte. Her fight with Carrie-Anne Moss’ Jedi Master Indara in a Cantina shows she’s a formidable fighter. But before Stenberg managed to do these action scenes, she revealed she had undergone intense training for the new Star Wars series.

“I was such a pain in the ass for producers when I got there,” she told Entertainment Weekly. “I’m just a really analytical person, and I have to dive deep into everything and gather as many pieces of information as possible in order to not freak out, especially when it comes to taking on something like Star Wars.”

As a starter, she studied Wing Chun, a former of Southern Chinese kung fu, to have a basic foundation in martial arts. Her production schedule also started six weeks earlier than her co-stars, as she had to spend long training days with her stunt doubles, Cassie Jo Craig and Kellina Rutherford.

Luckily, all her hard work paid off. After learning basic punches and kicks, she could now do complicated stunts. The singer-actress had her personal Jedi Master, the assistant fight coordinator Lu Junchang, to thank for. With his help and guidance, she could effortlessly execute long fight scenes on the spot.
