Today, new images for the upcoming Star Wars: Skeleton Crew series have been released, teasing how the show will explore never-before-seen parts of the Star Wars galaxy and going on exciting adventures reminiscent of The Goonies. There's still a lot of mystery around Jude Law's character, Jod Na Nawood the new photos of Skeleton Crew have shared plenty of information on his character. Previously, Law hinted that there's more to his mysterious Jedi character than meets the eye, and now we have a bit more info about Jod Na Nawood.
Today, Entertainment Weekly shared new images of Skeleton Crew, and one of them features Law as a type of pirate Jedi donning a long duster coast and a blaster with a grip that looks similar to that of a flintlock pistol's. According to series co-creator Jon Watts, Ja Na Nawood's pirate look was completely intentional, while co-creator Christopher Ford said that they wanted to make a "whole new kind of a Jedi."

Here's what Ford told EW:
What could Jude Law's new kind of Jedi mean for Star Wars?
Watts also said that the Skeleton Crew characters would be exploring the wild space regions of the Star Wars galaxy, and Law's pirate appearance could shake up Star Wars as his demeanor doesn't coincide with the values of the Jedi Order. The fact that Skeleton Crew takes place during the New Republic era of the Star Wars timeline suggests that the series could be adding to the lore of the Order 66 survivors. If Jod turns out to be a survivor of Order 66, he could be an example of a Jedi who gave in to their base desires after the Jedi Purge. Pirates are famously known for seeking wealth, and Jod Na Nawood could be an example of a Jedi who sought treasures for their own interests.
Star Wars introduced many types of Jedi before, and some of them were fallen Jedi after Order 66, such as Baylan Skoll of Ahsoka as well as various Inquisitors, but Law's Jod looks something else entirely, and he doesn't look like the typical fallen Jedi. Jod Na Nawood could also be the first live-action Jedi to use a blaster. Although Star Wars featured Jedi that have used blasters extensively before, there was always a level of desperation of secrecy to it.
Previously, Law teased the "contradictions" of Jod in an interview with Rotten Tomatoes TV:
Law had clear hesitation around mentioning his character's name, which suggests that he's keeping Jod's true identity under wraps. Despite what Watts, Ford, and Law revealed so far about Jod Na Nawood, there's still a lot of mystery around the Jedi, and the quest to find that out should be one of the most exciting reasons to watch Skeleton Crew.

The first two episodes of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew are set to premiere on Disney+ on December 3, 2024.
