The first trailer for Star Wars: Ahsoka Season 2 premiered Friday at D23 in Anaheim, marking the first substantial new footage from the series in years. Alongside the clip, Lucasfilm released the official Season 2 poster, giving viewers their initial glimpse of Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren navigating an unfamiliar landscape while the larger conflict with Grand Admiral Thrawn begins to take shape. The presentation at the Anaheim event served as the formal public introduction of the new season’s visual tone and central stakes.

Season 2 continues the story of Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) and her extraordinary journey beyond the known galaxy. As Ahsoka and her Jedi apprentice Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) travel across a mysterious and perilous world in an effort to find their way home, their friends and allies must confront the powerful Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen) and his sinister associates, who are actively working to plunge the New Republic into full-scale war. The new season places the two Jedi far from familiar space while the political and military threat grows closer to the core worlds.
The cast expands and evolves with Rory McCann assuming the role of the former Jedi Baylan Skoll, stepping in after the late Ray Stevenson originated the character in Season 1. Hayden Christensen returns as Anakin Skywalker, the part he previously played across the Star Wars prequel films and the series Obi-Wan Kenobi. Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Eman Esfandi and Ivanna Sakhno also appear in key supporting roles that further develop the network of characters surrounding Ahsoka and Sabine. These performers join the established ensemble as the story moves into new territory both geographically and narratively.
The Season 1 finale, which originally aired in October 2023, concluded with Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen) executing a successful hyperspace jump through a complex space loop while Ezra Bridger remained hidden aboard his ship. Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren were left stranded on Peridea, a remote world of green tundra and scattered tumbleweeds located in an entirely different galaxy. Thrawn’s overarching strategy centers on reassembling the Empire through a series of military and political maneuvers designed to restore Imperial authority and fracture the still-fragile New Republic. Those unresolved outcomes from the first season now form the foundation for the conflicts depicted in the new trailer and poster.
Dave Filoni, who created the series and continues to write the scripts, remains the primary creative force guiding the second season. Ahsoka Season 2 is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ on January 20, 2027, bringing the next chapter of the live-action story to audiences after the extended production gap. The series previously earned a 2024 Emmy Award for Outstanding Fantasy/Sci-Fi Costumes along with four additional craft nominations, underscoring the production values Filoni and his team are expected to maintain as the narrative advances.
