The galaxy far, far away has been in existence for nearly half a decade already and it still remains to be one of the biggest names in the industry as it continues to expand through its movies and series. Usually, Lucasfilm projects are rated for the general public to enjoy but in a surprising turn of events, Star Wars: Return of the Jedi just got a change in its rating four decades after its release. This is in the UK and the reason for the change is due to the film's violent contents.

Star Wars: Return of the Jedi was released in 1983 as part of the original trilogy that steered the franchise into becoming one of the biggest and longest in existence. Return of the Jedi is also known as Star Wars Episode VI being the last of the original trilogy and the epic space opera film is set a year following The Empire Strikes Back. With it being an action-packed finale of the original trilogy, four decades after its release, a report from SFFGazette.com confirms that the British Board of Film Classification changed the rating of the movie to a "Rated U" which means "Universal" and the classification is considered as "Adult" having material not suitable for children.

The spokesperson of British Board of Film Classification spoke to Mail Online regarding the change in the rating of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi saying, "We embarked on our latest guidelines review this year where we spoke to a diverse range of parents, families, teenagers and educators across the length and breadth of the country."

What is the next movie for the Star Wars franchise?

Recently, the Star Wars franchise focused on expanding and growing their narrative through the Disney Plus series as they introduce new perspectives of the classic lore of the galaxy far, far away. Still, there remains the hunger from the fans on what the next movie of the franchise would be. Thankfully, Lucasfilm already announced that there is an upcoming Daisy Ridley Star Wars movie to be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy.

The upcoming Daisy Ridley Star Wars movie is rumored to have the title of either "A New Beginning" or New Jedi Order since there is still no confirmation what the official title is. The movie is to be set 15 years after Rise of Skywalker in a time where there is chaos after the First Order. Daisy Ridley's Star Wars movie is set to start filming in April 2024. The film has no release date yet.
