Ubisoft has put a tentative release window for Star Wars Outlaws which will be in 2024. A post on Disney Parks blog made a suggestion that Star Wars Outlaws may be coming out in late 2024 which temporarily appeared last January 2nd but in a statement shared by Ubisoft to PC Gamer, the spokesperson of Ubisoft revealed that the information released by the blog post was "a mistake." Furthermore, the spokesperson also said that they were "back to square one" but the fans need not worry because they would release updates soon and that the game is still planned to come out this year.

The launch of Star Wars Outlaws is still slated to come out this year and it will be released for PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S. There remains no announcements whether the game would be arriving on the Game Pass but that would still take time before it happens, if it happens.

Star Wars Outlaws is set in the same world as that in the movies and shows as the events are happening in the period between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi from the original trilogy. It will focus on the main protagonist, Kay Vess, an outlaw scoundrel to be portrayed by Humberly González, and she will be with her companion, Nix, played by Star Wars veteran Dee Bradley Baker. The main storyline will surround Kay in her attempt to push for one of the biggest heists to ever be pulled off in the Outer Rim.

Aside from the heist, Kay Vess will need to outmaneuver the Empire, the threat of the Syndicates, and her past which continues to haunt her. Should the heist be a success, Kay hopes that her loot from the heist could be something that she could use for a new life outside being an outlaw and a scoundrel. The game will be featuring familiar places like Tatooine, Akiva, and Kijimi. New places would also be introduced like the moon of Toshara, similar to that of the Tanzania Savannah.

Kay Vess is a new character to be introduced in the Star Wars universe through Star Wars Outlaws. She is an outlaw in the middle of the ongoing war of the Empire versus the Rebel Alliance and there are other syndicates that are after her like the Pyke Syndicate and the Hutts. It remains unknown whether Kay Vess would make any on-screen appearances in the future.

What is the Star Wars Outlaws gameplay?

Ubisoft unveiled the first look of Star Wars Outlaws gameplay with a ten-minute walkthrough during the Ubisoft Forward showcase last June 2023. It began with something like a stealth-based scenario and Kay, together with Nix, is going through a location that is infested with the opposition. At a point, Nix is seen doing some distractions to help Kay get through the obstacles.

Kay is also seen engaged in a high-speed chase and intense combat. Some of her pursuers were also revealed during the gameplay. It also showed that Kay and Nix were brought to Jaunta's Hope, a smuggler town, following a quick shootout. She was not rewarded, but instead, she was even threatened by an Imperial officer, and was later branded as "wanted" through the posters that were posted in the town, thus, becoming an outlaw.

Kay makes an exit through her spaceship and gets involved in a dogfight against the Imperial fighters. There were also some dialogue between ND-5 and Kay before making a jump into hyperspace. These are just some of the fights that the players would have to go through as the story of Kay and Nix unfolds in Star Wars Outlaws.

Is there a trailer for Star Wars Outlaws?

A day prior to the release of the gameplay, the official trailer of Star Wars Outlaws was released during the Xbox Games Showcase in June 2023. It introduced Kay Vess who dons an outfit fit for the galaxy far, far away plus an attitude that one could never forget. Then, there is Nix, a small adorable alien creature that is known as a Merqaal and once you hear Nix, it is overflowing with cuteness. Throughout the trailer, Nix is seen to be grabbing weapons of Kay's enemies and giving it to her. Nix proves to be both cute and helpful at the same time.

The trailer heavily features the deadly underworld of the Star Wars lore where there are creatures from the galaxy far, far away that one would not want to mess with. There were characters from the Pyke Syndicate, and the Hutts, plus a new faction that would only be introduced for the first time in the game. A second trailer is expected to come out once the release of the game nears.
